9 month old awake for 6 hours - normal?

Hey guys! So, my 9 month old DS woke up from a nap just after 12:30pm and it’s now 6:30pm and he’s still awake. Wide awake. He usually has 2-3 naps during the day (usually 2) which last anywhere between 20 mins to 2 hours. I’ve tried so many times to put him to sleep but he just won’t sleep. He’s feeling well and he’s happy, he’s not upset at all or anything like that. I’m eating a cookie and he’s asking for it. Wide awake. Is this normal? I thought 9 month olds wake window should be up to 3 hours?

Been a long time since DC were that age but - this doesn’t sound odd at all
Better to have a good nights sleep and awake during the day - don’t worry

Mine is like this! She’s 8 months and does 2 x 30 min naps a day. Drives me bonkers. she is as Larry though. sleeps fine at night (I mean wakes for feeds but what I’d call normal). Some babies just need different amounts of sleep I’d say. If it’s abnormal for you though maybe check nothing else seems wrong

Sounds fine to me! It just means no break for mummy 🤣

Haha I don’t mind at all that there’s no break for me, but I was worried because he’s never been awake for so long before. It’s been 7 hours and he’s wide awake playing with my dad

I know this might sound weird but I had several evenings with my daughter where she would just stay awake, no crying or complaining... she should have been asleep by then for her age. I gave her more milk and suddenly she fell asleep. This happened many times so I think she was just missing a little bit of milk/a bit hungry not enough to complain to fall asleep.

I used to worry when my DD would do this but I saw someone say that sometimes we have days where we go to bed later/sleep differently etc and why should babies be any different?

If they're happy and otherwise normal I wouldn't worry.

So he fell asleep at like 8:45pm and woke up at half 9. He’s been awake since then. It’s almost midnight we’re trying to make him sleep, he’s sleepy but not going to sleep. His sleep timing is so messed up today

My nine month old just won't sleep during the day, she just takes really long blinks but does sleep through so can't complain really.

Could he be cutting a tooth?

Could he be cutting a tooth?

Yeah, maybe! It did seem like another tooth is gonna come out soon (his gums looked white) even though he has 8 already. But he’s been in a constant good mood today? So I’m not sure?

Something else! My dad gave him a bit of chocolate today 😫 when I was cooking. I walked into the living room and DS was sitting with my dad who was holding his kitkat and DS attacked it. He had probably like half of a bar. 😤 he enjoyed it and was super happy but I wasn’t! Could it be because of the sugar that he wasn’t sleepy? Because he doesn’t have a lot of sugary foods usually!

He finally fell asleep at midnight. Fingers crossed he stays asleep for a good few hours
