Ditching dummy

DD has seemed to rely on dummy more as she has got older (20mths) and since she can verbalise that she wants it more. Nursery have said that she has got a bit winey as they do not give it her unless she is ill or tired and they suggested getting rid of it.

Sort of thought it was none of their business, but she is demanding it more and if we are going to get rid of it, are there any tips, successful ways to do it and how was it if you have done it with a dc of my dd age.

I decided to make the rule that they didn't come out of my dtwins bedroom - cue some fuss, but they soon forgot about it - my theory was someone cancomfort them in the day, but dummy good for night!

How old were they when you did this?

I got rid of my DD's last Christmas she was 2 and 3 months !! I told her that Santa was having them in exchange for 'big girl presents' She shouted for about an hour on night 1 and then seemed to forget - which was remarkable because she was welded to it and would whinge and whinge and whinge and whinge if she didn't have one!

I would recommend bracing yourself and just doing it...the Easter Bunny could take them all away for the other babies in the world and leave a nice present instead?

Then to be honest I think you just take them away - it might be hard work at first, but it won't last long.

She only had it for bed today and just before today so very pleased. It took alot of distraction in the garden after nursery but worked.
