Too much sleep - should I be worried?

One year old DS sleeps from 6.30pm - 6.30am (sometimes with one 5 min wake up in the night). Back down at 8.30am - 10am. Lunch time nap at 13.30pm - 15.30pm (I have to wake him from this nap).

This seems like a lot of sleep to me. Should I be worried? My dd slept nowhere near this much. He also pretty grumpy when he's awake like he wants to go back to bed as he's still tired.

Thanks x

Sounds great 😊
mine is actually quite similar and only recently at 1.5 down to one longer nap in the middle of the day.

he sleeps 7-7 (well sometimes I have to wake him at 9). I get most my chores done before he wakes and on work days I am ready before I have to wake him it’s great.

he’s regulated all his sleep patterns himself, I’ve never had to change anything. If he sleeps extra I think he must just need it.

enjoy it in case it doesn’t last forever!

@Jj7789 thank you that's reassuring.

I've also been enjoying it and getting loads done (when my other child isn't awake but that's a different story) but started to worry I've been enjoying something that is actually a red flag!

Omg sounds amazing.

I was so attached to the morning nap, it was my 'get on top of the day' time. I went a bit loopy the first few weeks DS dropped it when he was 14mo.

Keep it up as long as night time sleep remains unaffected!

All 3 of mine have slept like this, I wouldn't worry.

Lol DS slept like this as a baby, and still napped when he started afternoon nursery at 4 years old. I have many photos of him asleep on my sofa after nursery to. Although he has always been an early riser and for a while woke at 5am (that was hard work).

But DD was the total opersit struggled to get her to nap and then dropped it intermittently at 18 months and didn't sleep through until 3 years old.

They are both normal ish teenagers, strangely DD sleeps in more then DS. I say enjoy the sleep while it lasts, the only down side is I didn't get to take DS to as many toddler groups as half the time he was asleep. Lol 😆

Sounds fine. I'd probably try and do a 9am nap and wake after 45mins (a sleep cycle) and then put them down 12.30 and let them sleep til the usual 3.30pm time (probs they'll wake before this) but only because I think a shorter am nap works well as it's the one that gets dropped first.

This. My DD slept pretty much the same at 12 months but then moved to the young toddler room at daycare at 15 months where it was 1 nap after lunch so we transitioned her gradually by capping the morning nap at 45 minutes.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Reassuring to know it's just him being a good sleeper. Going to try the 45 min 1st nap xxx

Unless you really need to for nursery, I wouldn't change what is working right now. You could mess with his night time sleep if he gets overtired.
