Really struggling can anyone help with food

For nearly ten month old dd?
She is dairy free so that limits a lot.
She has a pouch a day, but is starting to spit them out as I know she likes feeding herself.

In the morning she'll have a piece of toast, used to have a yogurt too but spits them out now too.

Lunch tends to be a pouch of Ella's (but won't eat them now)

Dinner is pasta and broccoli which she loves

I'm just stuck !! I haven't been eating the best lately (10 weeks pregnant and can't face cooking)
So not ad easy as having what we're having.

I tried her with chicken the other day. She didn't like it. She won't eat egg, think it's the textures

Can she have a frozen sausage with some mash?? Or are they too crappy?

I would love some ideas

I really feel for you as my dd was pretty fussy as well. Only liked finger food and savoury food, so no fruit flavoured yogurts, no jars or purees for her. Also only ate small amounts of anything so I had to try to give her stuff that was protein/nutrient rich.

One thing which worked well was tinned mackerel sandwiches (mackerel in olive oil, mash it up and put it on a brown bread sandwich) which she loved, plus lots of protein and healthy fish oils. If you don't like mackerel, try tuna. You can also try tinned sardines in tomato sauce (mash up well and put on toast). With both of these I would just eat 3/4 of it so it was a good lunch for me too! At 10 months they don't eat that much anyway. I know a lot of babies eat bananas and porridge but it was too mushy for my dd.

Grated cheese sandwiches could be another option. Breadsticks and cheese dip. Marmite on crackers.

You said egg was out, have you tried omelette? Again make a 1 or 2 egg omelette (no extras, well cooked through) and cut into strips. She would have some and I would eat the rest for lunch.

Pasta and broccoli sound great, could you add some grated cheese to increase the protein? or try different shaped pasta to vary it a bit?. I remember when my dd went to nursery she apparently loved their 'cheesy bean pie' - when I asked for the recipe they said it was just mashed potato, baked beans and cheese! Frozen sausage and mash? - go for it, there's protein in those sausages and as long as that's not their entire diet, give it a try.

Kids that don't like egg often love egg fried rice!

Mash and sausage is fine! With some veg, it's a perfect meal!

Bagels can be fun for kids.

Mine used to like avocado at that age.

It doesn’t matter that she spits it out, you need to keep offering things, it can take 50 goes to get them to like something. Picking food up, playing with it, sucking it, spitting it is all about learning. The focus doesn’t have to be on what goes in.

Why the same thing every night for dinner?

I really rated the BLW recipe book (you don’t have to do BLW although we did, it’s just got good baby recipes), lots of really easy things. The curry and chilli went down well. Anything rice based. The salmon dip. Homemade fishfingers are easy and you can freeze them, same with goujons. Spag bol.

Just make normal family food even if you aren’t eating it, and freeze it. But I will say that they almost always eat better if they ate part of a meal where everyone is eating, DD used to stare at us and copy. I tried to avoid her eating alone regularly (obviously unavoidable sometimes).

Keep offering her new things, even if she doesn't like them or just wipes them all over the high chair. It takes multiple goes for them to get the taste for food. Focus on savoury things rather than sweet if possible. Don't be afraid of flavour - salt is the big thing to avoid. We rarely cook with salt anyway so our kids always ate what we had.

I really recommend Consider the Fork by Bee Wilson and the Young Gums recipe book.
