Weaning Dc - bib help!!

I can’t seem to keep my DC’s clothes clean at all during weaning. I have to change Dc after breakfast and again after lunch despite using a bib. She’s on two meals a day and a great eater.

Any suggestions for really good bibs? Ideally not super expensive if possible….

i didn’t bother with a bib, I just stripped them off to eat and a quick wipe with a wet flannel afterwards!

You can get waterproof ones that have full sleeves so their clothes stay clean.

What sort of bib are you using? A full sleeve one that does up behind them or just a semi circle of fabric/plastic round the neck? I always found the former far better when they were tiny especially with food like spag bol, soup etc.

Or, just strip to vest/nappy and wipe down after in summer!

BIBaDO Coverall Weaning Bib - Toddler Baby Long Sleeve Bibs for Ages 6-36 Months Attaches to Highchairs Pushchairs Tables - Waterproof Machine Washable. Mess Proof Feeding BLW Bibs https://amzn.eu/d/9NxACVl

These were a game changer for us. Stretch over the highchair tray so no fall out. Tad expensive but we bought two and just cycled them. There's probably cheaper makes around now too if you have a wee nose about. For dinner I never put one in his cause he goes in the bath after so that was his turn for more messy stuff.

Youngest pulled off every bib- we ended up with a food T-shirt - threw that on. But tbh multiple outfit changes a day with a weaning baby isn’t unusual.

You could try looking for them on ebay too actually, might get a wee bargain... just thought about that as I hit send lol, sorry for the second post.

I always fed/feed my babies/children breakfast before getting them dressed for the day, which solves the first problem!

For lunch/dinner I like the long sleeved waterproof/fabric bibs (Sainsbury's and Morrisons sell at a reasonable price). On top of them I also like decent silicone bibs that hold their shape (personally I only ever use Nuby - they're a little pricier than some but I bought them when I had my first child almost 5 years ago and they're still going strong, they'll probably end up passed down to cousins!).

Eminybob · 24/07/2023 18:00

The ikea ones! I think they are technically painting/craft bibs so bigger than average and we're my favourite ones

Eminybob · 24/07/2023 18:03

These are the ones I mean but it looks like they don't sell them any more sorry

Mine wore muslin squares and that covered most of their clothes

Peanutbutteryday · 24/07/2023 18:19

Thanks everyone! At the mo I use a long sleeved bib with a silicone over the top and it still gets everywhere - sometimes she’s topless Under her 2 x bibs but her leggings still get rouined! Conscious if it gets colder she probably will want clothes on haha. Think it’s because it gets on her hands and then it ends up honestly everywhere.

Lots of helpful suggestions. EBay is a great shout for cheaper bibados.

Bibado for sure. DD would only eat purée with her hands, but these were a game changer!

I strip our baby before meal time! Some mess is unavoidable. A friend joked that 94% of the worlds food waste is from baby weaning...
