Hi,
My daughter starts at secondary school in September. I really struggle to be organised and she is very similar- what are some very specific and practical steps that she/we can follow to help day to day? (E.g. I mean, really PLEASE do spell it out for me step by step so I can help and encourage her to get into a routine !- as in, get in- take bag up to room when you get in,- take out books from that day, what is the best organisation system for books/ homework?)
I would be so so grateful for any small practical Steps and suggestions you have! Xx

Have a look on here as a starting point. School will probably have their own systems Homework diary for e.g.
I’d buy a large notice board with coloured pins for displaying timetables equipment list. Write on/wipe off board and pen for daily reminders. Colour coding will help.
Laundry basket in her room.

Dc2 is ultra organised and has a copy of timetable in blazer pocket and taped to box where she keeps her books. Every day after school she swaps books over, double checks before school to. Also check planner daily for things that need doing for next day.
I have a stationery cupboard so when I bought all bits I bought double so we always have a spare and when someone uses the last one we buy a new one that way nothing ever runs out.
Pe kit in locker at school only comes home to be washed.
When I get the school calendar I put everything into my Google calendar and set reminders where needed.
As school letters come I deal with them straight away and if I can't put a reminder on my phone.
Anything important I also screenshot and send to child so they know what's going on.
Have enough uniform for a full week Friday wash it all so it'll be ready for Monday.
Dc3 has keys and bus bass attached to a chain that's clipped to bag because otherwise he'd loose it.
Have a change jar for bus fare so never run out.
Uniform, water bottle and snack made up night before.
Basically a good routine that works for everyone and have a home for everything.

Depends on the school. During Covid and ever after, local schools got the kids to come to school in PE kit on the days when they have PE/Games.
