Delayed 12 month old

12 month old - she can roll and has good head control, but can't sit up unaided, can't pull up to stand, can stand if hands are held but not if I let go, can't hold herself up on furniture if pulled up. She smiles, laughs sometimes and makes eye contacts but is very quiet, no babble or words/attempts at words. No shared attention yet either, doesn't show me things, point or follow my points, look at me for reactions. It is being monitored by health visitors but at what point would you start to worry? It's very much a wait and see sort of situation at the moment but she seems much younger than other babies her age

My daughter was similar. Didn't crawl until 15 months. She is hyper mobile and we needed physio to strengthen her muscles.

She does have a genetic condition we now know but that definitely doesn't mean that's the case for your daughter. Some children just have weaker muscle tone. I would not delay with seeing a physio. The health visitors should have referred you already if they haven't go to the GP and her s referral. We did end up paying for some private physio while we waited but it's not sn option for everyone.

I would also suggest a review with a paediatrician hair for your own peace of mind

Thank you for replying. Can I ask what genetic condition she has?

Very very rare syndrome called Coffin Siris.

However there were lots of other signs as well. Not just the delayed milestones

My little boy was similar to this. Because he couldn’t sit up unaided at his 10 month review (which was actually done at 11 months) we were referred to physio by the health visitor. He couldn’t roll at that point either. At the physio appointment they basically told us there was nothing wrong with him - he just hadn’t built up enough strength through tummy time (he hated tummy time due to reflux). They gave us loads of strengthening type exercises to do with him several times a day and within a couple of weeks he was sitting unaided and rolling. He then started crawling and pulling himself up on furniture at 13.5 months and took his first steps at 16 months.
He was quite “behind” with all his milestones really. He didn’t point, clap or wave until he was about 18 months and didn’t start saying any words other than babbling until he was 2. He’s a normal 4 year old now and doesn’t stop talking! I was really worried at the time and convinced myself there was something wrong but some babies are just slower to reach their milestones than others. Obviously it can also mean there is something underlying going on, but not always. I would push the health visitor to refer you to physio for a start as the wait times for that can take a while.

Hello sorry to jump on this thread but would you mind sharing what exercises they gave you to do please? That’s amazing how quickly your little one improved x
