Blisters. What’s is this???

Didn’t really know what to call this I need to advise if anyone else’s child has had this It’s been going on for a month now.

On 17th June my daughter (age 2) came out in some blisters just dotted around, mainly on her torso area only one of the back of her leg. I thought it was chicken pox a few days later she didn’t develop any more and they started to get bigger and sore so rang the doctors over the phone appointment they said it was infected insect bites got given liquid antibiotics… they eventually healed but they’ve left a smooth brown patch where they all was.
Then on the 3rd of July she got one on her arm (this is the worst one) same thing happened with that started as a blister got bigger and bigger took her to the doctors again in person this time they said it’s either ring worm or discord eczema got given some cream like a steroid and antibiotic in one . A week later the cream wasn’t doing anything and she got 2 more blisters so took her back and this doctor said he had no idea what they are and was going to speak to a skin doctor now I’m just waiting back from them got a appointment on Monday, he gave me a antibiotic and a steroid cream to use for a week on her arm whist we wait but she’s got more blisters now that are starting to get bad like the other ones .
I’m so upset her body just looks a mess and I just want answers to what it is.
can anyone help????
1st picture is how they started as a blister.
2nd picture is how they go after a few days
3rd picture is how they’ve healed.
4th and 5th is of now

Are you/they picking at them? They look a bit like molluscum but they usually just stay as a firm blister.

Lauren8642 · 17/07/2023 22:55

they are itching her yes

Im no medic but looks like impetigo. I used to get it as a kid. I think thetes different types, but one kind is deffo weepy blisters.
Think i got steroid creams and antibiotics from Docs.
Hope it clears up!

sanitygirl · 17/07/2023 23:19

Looks and sounds like impetigo to me

Lauren8642 · 17/07/2023 23:26

How come she keeps getting more? I thought impetigo but then there starting as blisters is random places then the blisters are gradually growing. She didn’t have any open wounds for the infection to go in

They do look to me like molluscum that has become secondarily infected. Washing in hibiscrub might help a bit while you wait for a specialist opinion. She needs to stop picking at them though!!

Lauren8642 · 18/07/2023 08:17

@Howtotalksoyourparentslisten do they normally cause irritation? Even ones she can’t see she’s reaching to itch them got a doctors appointment Monday to go overe everything again with the doctor after he’s spoke to the skin doctor but the can’t do till Monday but she keeps getting more and more blisters and marks coming up

I had something similar as an adult, it was started by an allergy originally and then I had blisters which would become like ulcers/open sores. I was very anaemic, has she had bloods done? Another thing that really helped was hibiscrub, the stuff you use for MRSA. I got some from amazon and used that every day for a week and then shifted to a few times a week. That and and Iron Infusion to sort out my bloods helped.

Bless her, looks very uncomfortable

Lauren8642 · 18/07/2023 12:19

@Valhalla17 i asked about blood they said they wouldn’t never do it for someone her age 🙄 weather or not they will do them if the skin doctor will see if her in person. what is your allergy if you don’t mind me asking?

My son had it as a toddler - started with eczema which must have got infected then the blisters just kept getting bigger until they covered most of his chest! Needed treating with antibiotics (we ended up at A&E) so I'd get him to the GP asap

Valhalla17 · 18/07/2023 15:26

Interesting about the bloods OP, but I think you might need to push them if no improvement pretty soon. Bloods are pretty useful to determine what could be happening!

I have various weird allergies, had anaphylaxis 3 times etc. My GP was never that bothered! The recent allergy was an insect bite...it seemed to trigger an autoimmune response and I had hives all over for about three months. All the scratching then triggered the blister/ulcer reaction. It took about 7mths all in all for it to go and only did when I sorted out my iron and discovered hibiscrub. 🙃

Did you ever find out what this is? My LO is experiencing the same exact thing. Starts as a tiny little blister and then opens up big

Lauren8642 · 31/07/2024 19:47

@Ashleysprad hi no unfortunately not, we’ve been referred to the dermatologist waiting for that to come through been waiting since beginning of June but luckily she hasn’t had any more come up since June 🤞🏼
But before that so since June 2023 - June 2024 she was having the spots come up once a month so she’s get some (not as bad as last year on the photos before) then they’d go then soon as they’ve got she’d get more.
they look like this…
hope you get a answer x

They look like molluscum, DD had them for about 2 years. One got quite badly infected which she had antibiotics for and the rest we had Fucidin cream from the GP for the ones that irritated her. They eventually just went.

Ashleysprad · 31/07/2024 20:13

Thanks for your reply. We’ve only had two months so far but one went away and then about a week later another one popped up. They start like small tiny blisters like that and just keep opening. I’ve had it cultured and it’s negative for bacteria. I’m just at a loss
