Uneven bum cheeks on my 3 year old

Hi all, first time parent so don’t know if this is something normal or something that will even itself out? Or even something I need to see a GP about.

My daughter has slightly uneven bum cheeks and an extra crease in the left hand side one. I’m on holiday at the moment so I’m noticing it more in her swimsuit and also comparing to other kids. Not that I’m staring at bottoms lol but you notice these things!

Obviously she will grow up being taught to love her body and that we are all different and beautiful no matter what, but if there is something I need to do or something I’m not identifying here I’d like to know.

She never had any issues walking, she walked from 10.5 months and to our knowledge never had any hip issues.

Her left foot does pronate __outward when she walks but her had has that issue too so imagine it’s hereditary?!

Ive attached a picture you can hopefully see what I mean or hopefully tell me I’m being over neurotic and have nothing to worry about! 😊

Thanks everyone x

I would make a gp appt who will probably refer to podiatrist. The over pronation definitely needs looking at.

Raise with your GP when you get home - they can refer her to see if she has a hip alignment issue. For now I’d enjoy your holiday!

HI Op,

Just to give you my experience with our little girl. Our DD wasn't walking until 18mts , as soon as she started, she keep falling over.

We got her checked out and an X-ray showed she had hip Dysplasia. and required a hip operation.

As I read more about this condition, one of the key symptoms was an extra layer of fat underneath one of the buttocks.
When I check my DD it was clearly visible.

I would recommend you go to your GP and request an X-ray ASAP. She may be walking fine, but an X-ray will give you a very clear indication if there are any concerns. Don't let anyone fob you off. If you address this now it will pay dividends in the future.

The consultant actually stated if we hadn't addressed this when we did she may have developed Arthritis in her twenties.
The fact that your DD is walking fine, it doesn't sound as if her case is an severe as our child.

You are doing the right thing to highlight it now.

Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll definitely go see my GP when we get back (tomorrow sadly) but it’s bothering me enough now even though my OH thinks that it will all be resolved through her getting some exercise and core strength through gymnastics and swimming!
Will I need to push for a referral or just enough to be assessed by GP?

Hello, did anything come of this? I have noticed the same thing in my 2 year old. Thank you
