Weaning on the go?

How did you manage weaning on the go? If you had home made purees how did you keep them cool and warm up etc?

Feeling overwhelmed about all this weaning (starting next month)

Homemade purees for feeding at home and ready made pouches when out and about. Lidl and aldi have a good selection

I did blw as it was easier tbh, but I’ve seen people keep purées warm in thermos or those chilli bottles/soup canisters then decant them into a plastic bowl or something for ease. Take many spoons and use a nappy sac to chuck the dirty spoons/bowl in before taking home.

also can’t recommend highly enough the bibado bibs. Pricy but long lasting, amazing!

Ready made pouches or jars for on the go. Heat up in a jug or cup of hot water.
Packed spoon and bowl and bib in a big sandwich bag with a seal. So after finished all the mess goes in one bag.
Also when you start you will only being doing one meal a day really. So easy enough.
U can make Ur own puree and fill reusable pouches and freeze. Defrost night before and pack in a small lunch bag with a cool pack. Heat again with hit water and jug/mug.

To start off with you're only reallt doing one meal a day and it's recommended that it be in a calm, not overstimulating environment at a time when the baby isn't likely to be over hungry or tired. So you won't really be wanting or needing to do on the go weaning for a bit.

Also recommend baby led weaning for this.

My 1yo has been having 3 meals of food (not pouch or purée) for about 5 months now. I tend to make portable things - see Instagram for things like veg muffins etc - and then pack the tiny tupperwares you can get with things like cottage cheese, cucumber, fruits, etc.

I'd say it's more faff remembering to bring bibs, spoons, cups etc!

Pouches for on the go as pp has said, also banana/whole strawberries, yoghurts etc and then when bigger / more established you can just take bite sized pieces of your lunch if suitable. My little one loves scrambled eggs and can usually get that when I’m out for lunch!

My names just ate what I did so I'd order something they could share.

We didn't die purées. Just normal food so avoided all this faff.

Babes not names.

We weaned DT’s on jars and pouches. Worked our way through the different meals and different age ranges. Very easy - no mess and DT’s grew up liking all foods. Haven’t had to do separate meals for fussy children.

You don't actually have to heat up food. Obviously all babies have different tastes, but I would just chuck some lentils/carrots/whatever in a little pot and feed them to him at room temp.

Bagofsocks · 13/07/2023 19:49

I do a bit of everything baby led weaning and some purees from aldi and I don't actually warm them up. I make my own meals aswel for when I'm home. Mix and match it up. It's fun! Good luck!

gogomoto · 13/07/2023 20:10

Banana! Natures perfect weaning food in its own on the go packet.

I didn't warm them up, just cold purees or a bit of whatever I was having, and this was in 2001.
