wont be able to do anything expensive all the time but would like to do some stuff in the holidays with the kids. What have you got planned? If anything at all.

We are 2 weeks in

The 11 year old goes out to play every day with her friends, has been swimming, gone into town, cinema and has a couple of scout camps to go to.

The 14 year old emerges in the afternoon. Eats. Grunts. Rolls his eyes and picks a device to log on to.

We will do some days out as well.

Trips to different parks, a few free library and museums events, visiting other free museums, NT visits, cooking, arts and crafts (wilko have a sale on now) and some play dates. Mine will be 7 and 4 by then so they are easy to please and happily play with each other.

Haven't really got anything planned as such but will probably go to the library at least once a week, go to parks, bus rides/adventures/trips to the beach and lots of playing in the garden.

Will probably see what events local museums have on as well and maybe visit a couple of the castles nearby

Mine will just be 3, so not actually started school yet although childminder will be closed some of the time and our normal classes/ groups not running. I work part time, will be using some annual leave as will DH, and will also be providing some childcare for school age nieces and nephews

We’re lucky enough to have some great local parks, one of which has absolutely tons of fields/ paths/ little ponds and stuff surrounding it too. So lots of park trips/ duck feeding/ picnics. I’ve bought DD a bug hunting kit for her birthday as she’s really into looking for ‘creatures’ so we will do some of that. The blackberries will be out by August too so we will go picking some and maybe do some baking with our spoils.

Local park also has a great track for bikes and so will take the older ones there on days I have them.

There’s a free/ donation only petting farm type place about half an hour away with a good play area and again can take a picnic.

If we get hot weather again then paddling pool/ refillable water balloons/ soakers etc in the garden. Also string a tarp up between the fences and make a ‘camp’. Might go to a splash park - there’s none very near though so would be a bit of a trek.

Keeping an eye on the local Facebook pages/ local paper’s site which always has ‘free stuff to do with kids’/ pages for various museums and libraries and council run places to see if anything good comes up.

Probably more screen time than is ideal too to be fair.

Sports camps for three weeks 9 til 3.45pm every day then escape to France for three weeks.

Can't wait!

Stuff that's free or cheap!! 😁 so nt/ country parks with picnics. Library play parks/ walks, baking, crafts days in the garden visit different towns and have a look in charity shops visit friends, possibly swimming as that's fairly cheap at our local leisure centre. We may go to the car boot that's local to us kids can have a few pounds to pick up a toy etc to entertain them for 5 mins!!

AlwaysWantingIceLollies · 12/07/2023 14:24

Nothing planned other than one or two long weekends at the caravan.
Day to day will be free things. Library, museum, parks, woodland walk with the dog. Maybe pop into the charity shop for any bargains.
Always go out the first week and get supplies of crafts and baking for rainy days.
If the weather is nice, it'll be long days in the garden with the pool out.
And then will arrange certain days to see cousins/friends.

v lucky to be surrounded by many many parks in London so will go to different ones- but I have young children, 2&6 they love a park- sometimes we’ll take a picnic, sometimes the scooters, sometimes the bikes.

Will visit farms/ soft plays/ kids cafes.

do a big craft shop at B&M

Signed up to pretty much every camp at school covers 5 weeks. Then DH and I have taken a week off to go on a holiday but we don’t know where. Europe feels too hot and busy I’ll be 6 months by then so thinking Scotland. Last week either at home or days out. We’ll see nearer the time.

Greenfree · 12/07/2023 14:34

My plans so far are a coach trip to Legoland, day trip to London to see Matilda the Musical, plenty of day trips to the seaside as I've got a family and friends Railcard so save a fortune on tickets, setting a crafting project to paint a big Muriel of our favourite things together, plenty of time at my mum's whilst I work which will be followed up by evening trips to the playground.

Nousername94 · 14/07/2023 00:09

Wow you all have some lovely plans 😊 my DD is only 15 months and my son is 4 I am not sure what I can plan that they will both enjoy. Love everyone’s ideas. Definitely want to plan a day to London.

also, has anyone done the National lottery days out? It gives you £25 off for a visit to an attraction and there is a lot to choose from.

I'm mostly hoping my 14 year old doesn't burn the house down while I'm at work 🙂
