Firstly I don't need suggestions of stuff I can do as I already know all that, but here's what my boys 3-5 ages do (one age 3 one age 5), just checking is it adequate or am I lazy aF?

Read lots
Playing with peppa pig house
Playing with toy cars etc
Lots of time outdoors
Some jigsaws but not tons
Colouring
Stickers
Swimming about once a month
LOTS of day trips to historical places like Hampton court and museums, nice gardens etc
No bikes yet
Tv only morning and evening but more at weekends especially when up super early
No tablets at all

So am I doing enough? I know there's tons more we haven't tried and for various reasons I won't go into why but just in the above is it enough?

Do other patents indeed do less?

Are your kids generally content?
Is their physical, social and emotional development as expected?
Do you enjoy family time?

If the answer to all those things are yes then in my books it’s ‘enough’.

teacherteacherss · 11/07/2023 22:24

Yes to all

Agree with PP that ‘are they happy’ is the only important thing.

The only thing I’d add to your list (and I’m sure you do it, it’s just not there) is socialising with their peers.

GrazingSheep · 11/07/2023 22:25

Do they help with household stuff- age appropriate obviously?

PimpMyFridge · 11/07/2023 22:27

All looks great to me!
Kids also need down time, you don't need to feel like you need to pack something into every minute. Gazing at raindrops running down the window is valuable even. Times when your thoughts can wander are crucial.
But you're giving them plenty there so pat on the back door yourself and carry on

teacherteacherss · 11/07/2023 22:35

Yes they love helping me by pretending to hoover. Also standing on the chair next to the sink with me and putting away dishes etc

Is there something in particular you’re worried about? I slightly get the sense from your post that there’s something you’re not doing and you’re waiting for someone to say ‘aha!’ about that thing.

teacherteacherss · 12/07/2023 09:33

@Rainallnight no u sense wrong as there's nothing at all that I'm waiting to hear

It's more that im just aware we don't do tons so was just checking what we do do is enough

Sounds great.

You say "no bikes yet" -- do you mean you're thinking of getting them soon? If you want to come away from this with one thing to add, I'd add that. You can get loads of advice on how to start and how to get a decent 2nd hand bike etc from cycle sprog https://www.cyclesprog.co.uk/

Not saying you need to, mind, just if you sort of wanted to.
