DS is turning 5 soon and is having a party at the local soft play with 8 of his friends from school.

Would it be weird that when parents text to RSVP I ask them not buy magic/kinetic type sand as a present?

The reason being we (DH and I) have caught DS eating it before, we had a set and we took it off him the 2nd time we caught him eating it. (The first time he said he didn't so next time he played with it we watched him closely and he was)

I don't want to assume everyone will bring a gift (I don't expect gifts, given the cost of living) but I know some probably will.

Or do o not say anything and if he gets given some sand then just regift/charity shop it?

Don't say anything and just get rid of any on the off chance he gets some.

If he's going to get quite a few presents, he won't miss one, and it's a bit grabby to start saying what you don't want! I'd be a bit Hmm

I think it's fair enough, if any of them ask for suggestions, to say 'please no kinetic sand as we've had an issue with him eating it' but if they don't ask for suggestions then I don't think you can say anything.

Thanks for that!

I’d keep it aside for regifting at future parties

Yes don't say anything and just take it to charity shop straight away.
