Is my 3 month old trying to sit up?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Every time my 3 month old is sat on our lap she's constantly trying to lean forward, almost like she's folding herself in half and gets frustrated if we don't sit her up!
Is this the start of her trying to sit up? I thought 3 months would be way too early but it's the only thing I can think it would be.

Oh bless you there’s a big difference between them flinging themselves about on your knee to sitting on their own. I don’t think mine sat unaided till around 7 months though I know others do it a bit earlier.

Possibly. Mine wanted to be upright all the time at 3 months, ended up putting the pushchair forward facing and upright! At 4 months they could sit but I’d put cushions around them in case they toppled over. Both sat solidly and unaided by 5 months.

It's a new vantage point so it's interesting.

Mine did that around 3 months.
It's normal for them to try, but they won't go far at this point.
I let mine to try (she also often seemed upset) but never put her into sitting until she figure it out all by herself.

Could be reflux or wind? Lots of babies do find it more comfortable being kept upright after feeding

Yes it is, but she will take months to get there. You'll see her start to do ab crunches on her changing mat soon!

Wicksytricksy · 07/07/2023 21:23

The ab crunch phase is usually followed by the plank stage followed by the mountain climbers stage. If only these babies could get their nutrition right they'd all have six packs instead of squishy tums. 😆

I think it's looking for a better view. Once they've worked out a way to see their surroundings better that's all they demand.
