Traditional arm bands for us and a reasonable amount of supervision! We had lots of floats to play with as well, so they could hangonto those if they needed more support.

Pool noodle or float and stayed in arm's reach. She learnt to swim at 4 but I still stayed in arm's reach in deeper water till she was very confident.

DS prefers arm bands - I know they're not recommended for helping them learn to swim but for having fun in the pool on holiday, they're the best option for us. He tends to forget to hold on to things like floats or slips of a noodle and arm bands mean that he can be entirely self sufficient and have his hands free.

None, but a giant ring (adult sized) for playing on

a sort of zip up waistcoat with removable floats in. If you zip it on backwards your toddler cannot take it off. You can remove the floats one by one as they get more
confident in the water. Lungs are the body’s natural floats , so a float aid that fits around the torso is mimicking this and making the transition to unassisted swimming more natural
