i used the mothercare washable pull up ones for my dd from that age and they weren't a problem.

Wendyjayb · 23/02/2008 16:22

DON'T get the disposable ones, there rubbish. We bought some for holiday last year as ds was 18 months old and when on the beach the wee came straight through

belgo · 23/02/2008 16:25

swim nappies are not supposed to be absorbant for urine though. They are only supposed to be for containing poo. I would also recommend the mothercare washable swim nappies - they fitted my children well, they are fairly cheap, and lasted for two children.

I use one of these konfidence one size swim nappy. It folds out flat and is very useful in that it really does seem to fit all shapes, sizes and ages. The one I have easily fitted my DD2 from 5 months (when I first got it and still fits DD1 at nearly 4yrs (not that she needs it!). It doesn't have fiddly ties like some either and just fits with poppers and aplix. The pink one is bright pink

That said, I have used the mothercare pull up ones too. They aren't a pain to use at all really IME but of course you will need to buy bigger sizes as she grows.

The disposable ones are rubbish in comparison (a lot more prone to leaks IME)

I like the mother of eden ones - they side popper so you can pull up or lay flat.

My DD has a Purple Kushies Swim Nappy we like it, might have to buy a size up soon.

fiendish · 23/02/2008 20:20

We've been using the ME swim nappy for over 6 months now and are really pleased with it. We bought a small for DD and it has fitted well the whole time as the poppers make it really adjustable. She's now over 18 lbs but because she is tall and skinny it just about fits, but I will be buying a large soon.

We've used it at least once a week since we've had it. I think we've only had one poo 'incident' and it was perfectly contained.

I would definitely recommend them!

DontCallMeBaby · 23/02/2008 20:30

Kushies seemed fine when DD was smaller, thought the sizing was a little old the small size though. A minor warning, if you're a bit hard of thinking like I apparently am - they don't contain wee AT ALL. Swim nappies are designed to contain poos, DD never tested this out (yay) but did wee once just as I picked her up in her swim nappy. It was just a bit of a shock, to be copiously peed over, by a child who I could have sworn was wearing a nappy.

Ooh that's you

The little swim nappies I have hot pink, lime and yellow (blinding yellow) - I have the training pants ones, but I have a feeling they only come in the bigger sizes so wouldn't really work on your little one.

They fit up to about 2 yrs though, so would last a good while.

tortoiseSHELL · 23/02/2008 21:43

I think the best ones are Boots ones, which are flat ones which you velcro and then tie. DO NOT get a pull up swim nappy. Because, if they poo (which will probably happen), the water gets in with the poo, swirls it all around, some poo escapes (because you can't control the tightness round legs/waist) and THEN you have to pull the whole lot DOWN. Over their KNEES. And the wet, pooey, gloopy mess goes all over their legs, their knees, the towel, you. Oh yes, I speak from experience.

BabiesEverywhere · 23/02/2008 22:18

Kushies, velcro and tie too.

curlywurlycremeegg · 24/02/2008 09:13

Flame have you tried the MOE ones? They come up tiny on my two, DS2 was only in his 0/2 one for a couple of months and he started swimming at 6 weeks! I would mama I would order one in each size to save you having to go back for another in a couple of months. They are a really good swim nappy though

SlugsNSnails · 24/02/2008 09:35

I forget that my DS is only 12 month size It fits him lovely

But yup - they aren't listed but I have the next size up in red!

Rise 16", Sides 5", waist 17" and leg circumference 12".

Are MEOs guideline measurements
