Reusable Baby Wipes - Washing?

How do you wash reusable baby wipes? I'm expecting my first baby soon and I've watched the cheeky wipes videos online and it suggests to just throw them in with your regular washing. I don't feel comfortable doing this, but feel like washing wipes every other day will be so wasteful. What do you do?

I wash them with the washable nappies, every couple of days. It's worth having loads of wipes as you will get through them! I wouldn't really feel comfortable washing them with the regular laundry - unless they're just the ones just to dry off baby - I use a wet one then a dry one each time. Having said that, I have been known to use the clean ones to wipe little faces which I know is probably gross 🤢😅 I figure once they're washed they're clean...

I washed mine with the nappies. I washed every 3 days

Chuck them in with the white bath towels on a 60 degree wash. Bio powder.

With washable nappies, every other day. Added any dirty other stuff form baby also ie dribble cloths

A rinse then fill the drum with the rest of a 40 or 60 load.
Use a mesh bag. Having to extract a wipe from the machine's impeller is quite annoying.

Things will be poopier and sickier than you imagine! Babies can sick and poo on many babygros, muslins, your clothes, bedding, changing mat covers... Prob you'll have enough gross stuff to do a hot wash every second or third day.

To begin with you might also find you sweat/leak milk/bleed onto stuff and make a lot of washing that way too.

Second getting a mesh bag for wipes. Tupperware tubs to store clean and dirty ones. You can keep clean ones pre-wetted in a tub.

If you're lucky enough not to generate much mucky washing, get extra wipes and store them up til there's enough to do a wash.

We used white cheeky wipes for bums, coloured ones for hands and faces - coloured ones still used daily and my youngest is 4yo!

Thank you everyone for your input. I'm probably being naive about the amount of washing we'll be doing and the suggestion of giving them a hot rinse first is very handy @Abzs .

You might feel differently about washing once baby is here- not enough energy / time to care as much! If you use reusable nappies you can wash wipes and nappies together every few days. Also newborn poo is not that yucky (compared to once they eat solids) so putting in a normal wash might be ok for you. I also use wipes for various things (wiping hands / face / rug / table as well as bottoms) which dilutes the really yucky ones.

Yep wash them with the nappies, so easy. DS is nearly 3 and ours are still lily white and no stains, he uses them on the potty now.
