Food for parents at kids parties...

Would you expect food for parents at a kid's party? I don't mean proper catering, I just mean some cakes/nibbles/whatever. I wasn't planning to do any (there's enough to sort out for the kids without adding more stuff to do) but a friend seemed surprised when I said I wasn't going to do any. I've been to parties with adult food and without and whilst it's nice when there is food there I certainly don't expect it... do others? Am I being really mean by trying to save myself some extra work?! (I'll have tea/coffee btw).

I like to provide food and I love it when it's provided for me.

I'm very easily pleased - I like to have kids party food/cheeseboard/crisps/cake etc

i agree, i love kid`s party food, small sandwiches, party sausages, fruit salad, cheesy curls,etc...

i often put big bowl of crisps, bowl of bombay mix, bowl of mixed nuts. adults seem to be happy with small nibbles and help them selves with whatever kids left

I always do adult food at kiddies parties.....especially if the parties are for smaller kiddies where adult probably stay at!!

BUT

I only do the same that I provide for the kiddies, only in adult form.

ie...

pizza slices for adults, pizza cubes for kiddies
rolls for the adults with the same fillings that the kiddies get in teeny tiny triangle sandwiches
fruit (well.....lots of fruit for kiddies and adult alike)
pringles do adults and kiddies
dips and crudities...which TBH, do both again
some adult cakes/biscuits in the kitchen, along with tea/coffee/wine

yes I do something. I like a party and enjoy feeding people, but it's up to you. I would say a few nibbles at least and definitely some wine/beer to calm nerves (it gets hectic). We have lots of family over without kids and it ends up being a party for the adults as well. I usually do something easy like sausage baguettes or a load of chicken thighs with salad. Trouble is if you do it once people WILL expect it next time. In my experience kids don't seem to be interested in food except to lick icing off fairy cakes.
