Why does my DS hate nappy changing so much?

He doesn't just cry or wriggle he BAWLS the place down, you'd think he was being tortured. This is even when there's no hint of nappy rash. He refuses to lie still and we have to pin him down. I avoid doing it when DP is here as he doesn't find it as stressful but then feel guilty.

When does this stop? Why does he behave like this and what can I do?

Someone mentioned pull ups but they seem expensive AND I find it hard to clean him standing up???

HElp!

I'm having the same thing, my DS is only 9 months but I find it so stressful that I'm thinking of trying early potty training! My mum says she started about now and I was fully trained by 18 months. I just can't be doing with the hassle of trying to pin down a kicking and screaming child.

is the changing mat cold? you could lie him on a towel to warm it up a bit?

my ds2 does this so now i try to distract him with small toy or the wipes ,it keeps him still long enough for me to change him

Um, well. DS was like this. Well, often still is. He'll be 3 in April. Some children are just this way. I've looked for reasons and never found any. It sucks, doesnt it?

My ds had a phase of this, was horrid but he bt did grow out of it. In the meantime change him stood up unless it is a really terrible nappy, when it is terrible just lay him somwhere comfy and do it as quickly as possible with lots of praise aftwerwards. Also I think poo-ey pullups are much worse to change than regular nappies!!

Thanks at least I know it's not just me. Tried distraction and warm towel ideas - but thanks anyway.

Maybe will try potty training in summer then, he'll be 18mths - even if it was only for number 2s and wet nappies were done standing up?? That may work ???

Cheers
