I suspect mine is wildly out of sync, would like to know what others do. What bedtime, naptime, how long etc?
Any info v much appreciated!

Ours is up between 6-7am, nap at 12 for probably an hour and a half maybe two hours, in bed for seven and asleep by half past normally. What’s yours at the minute?

UnravellingTheWorld · 26/06/2023 13:20

Short and sweet! Baths in the evening don't fit in our schedule, and IMO make the child more wound up.

7:00 - Cup of milk
Tidy up toys in living room (he helps)
Got upstairs and change nappy
Brush teeth
Story time
Cuddles and kiss night night

I'm out of the room at about 7:20-25.

Nap time is just a story and cuddles.

Welshfiver · 26/06/2023 13:30

We are up around 6.30, nap at midday for around 2 hrs, bed at 6.45 ish

Up at 7am. Nap early afternoon - though I'm fairly flexible on time, so anywhere from 11.30-1.30 depending on activities. Nap lasts anywhere from 45 mins to 2 hours.

Bed normally 8/8.30.

ChillysWaterBottle · 26/06/2023 13:35

7am wake up

Between 10-11am nap. Sleeps around 2 hours. Used to sleep in either pram or cot but now it has to be cot.

6pm dinnertime

6:40 bath time

Towel and dry time, get dressed in night clothes, milk and brush teeth, cuddle and bed about 7 - 7:15. He rolls straight over and straight to sleep.

We've kept this routine hugely consistent (exact timings may vary due to daily circumstances, if he's exhausted or we're home late for whatever reason we go faster, or if he doesn't seem fully tired yet we drag our bath time with lots of bubbles and toys). But the routine and rough timings are quite strict.

He's a good sleeper now but he wasn't always! Took a lot and why I became so strict with it all. He's held this for about 6 months now (he dropped the second nap super early on his own).

Trixabelle84 · 26/06/2023 21:58

Wake up between around 7:30, sometimes later, sometimes slightly earlier but not usually before 7am

Nap after lunch at around 12/12:30 for around two hours

Bed time around 7:30pm

He is a brilliant sleeper though and he has the same routine both at nursery (4 days a week) and at home

PointeShoesandTutus · 26/06/2023 22:02

Wake up between 6-7am
Nap between 11.30-12.30 for 1.5 hours
Dinner at 5.30pm, bath at 6pm, bed with stories and cuddles at 6.30pm. Usually asleep around 6.45pm.

sunflowerandivy · 26/06/2023 22:05

Up between 4:30 and 5:30am. Naps between 11:30-1:30 but sometimes throws a spanner in the works and wakes after 40 mins. In bed at 7. Asleep by 7:30. She wakes 1-2 times a night for 1-2 hours each time. She's a nightmare sleeper.

Blessedbethefruitz · 26/06/2023 22:07

Mine is 17 months and differs from pp. Up at 6-7am, might go down for a nap at 9.30 for 45 minutes-1.5 hours and then again at 1pm for the same duration. If one nap, 11-1ish is usual. Bed at 5.30-7pm (doesn't seem to be affected by naps as long as she's up by 2.30pm) - we have a short routine, but start when i see her getting tired. She likes 11.5-12 hours overnight, but still dream feeds herself (co sleeps and breastfeeding).

My first was down to 1 nap by 12 months, but baby girl likes what she likes. She's the same at nursery (4 full days) as at home, if there's something really exciting she'll hold out for that 1 nap only.

Tiredmummaoftwo · 26/06/2023 22:15

Up at 7.30am
Naps 9am - 10.30am
Second nap 1.30pm - 3pm
Bed 6.30pm

Wakes up 1 - 2 times during the night which is why I suspect he has a long morning nap.

We only do this routine if I'm staying in most of the day. If I have plans he will nap on the go but is quite grumpy as he's not getting as much sleep.

DD was very different. Short morning nap (45mins). Long lunchtime nap at 12pm (2 hours). Bed at 7pm and up at 5.30am 🫠

Scirocco · 26/06/2023 22:29

16, almost 17, month old here.

Up at 6. Will cuddle or play quietly in the same room as a parent until about 7:30, but will not go back to sleep.

Naps at nursery for 30 minutes to an hour, just after lunch.

Will occasionally try to doze off in the car if nursery collection is done by car. This is terrible if successful and results in a horrible evening and night, and must be avoided with loud nursery rhymes playing for the journey home. If not successfully avoided, everyone in the house will still be awake past 10pm with an irate and exhausted child who's too tired to go to sleep. We walk most days.

Dinner at 5:30/6, then calming down time - relaxing play, bath (50:50 whether this is good or bad, though), story.

Through to the bedroom for 7, usually in bed asleep by 7:30. Usually up a couple of times during the night. We're still co-sleeping and breastfeeding.

somethingslastforever · 26/06/2023 22:38

Am I the only one here who's 18mo gets supper before bed?

WeightoftheWorld · 26/06/2023 22:49

Mine is 20m now but it was the same at 18m. Wakes anywhere between 7 and 8.30am on a morning. Usually around 7.30ish or so most commonly though.

Nap is around 1pm after lunch. if he's at home in bed he will usually sleep at least 1.5hrs, usually 2hrs or so and sometimes even 2.5-3hrs if unwell/had a bad night the night before/is really tired. I don't let him nap longer than 3hrs though and I tend to check on him at the 2.5hr mark if hes not stirred as it's getting unusual then. Often he will be awake then anyway just dozing and rouses when I go in. I also don't let him sleep past 4pm regardless of the time he went down for a nap. If we are out and about at nap time he may sleep as little as 40 mins or so and very rarely would be longer than an hour.

We start getting him ready for bed at 7pm - nappy change, PJs, . Up to his bedroom in dim lighting, put him in sleeping bag. Warm milk in sippy cup, read a story, offer milk again if he's not drank it all (usually doesn't and often had another little sip after story). Brush his teeth. We sit in a rocking chair in dim lighting in his room for all this. He had blackout curtains and a groblind up over the summer. He has a sleepytot lamb with 4 dummies attached, I offer this and we sit and cuddle for up to 5 mins. Sometimes he asks to go in bed sooner than that and I put him down if he does. He has a music player might be tommee tipee one? I set that to 45 min option and turn it on after I lay him in his cotbed. Turn off his little light, say goodnight and leave and he goes to sleep.

Newperson4 · 27/06/2023 14:43

Thanks for all your replies, was interesting and also slightly depressing. 😩

Mine currently Goes to bed at 7pm (tea at 5, bath at 6.30, then bottle of milk in bed) but he wakes 2 or 3 times a night for more milk and then he is usually up by 5.30/6. 6 is a good day. Sometimes he is awake for hours at night. He naps 11am-1pm but I always have to wake him up, if i let him sleep longer his night wakings are even worse. Im tearing my hair out.

Could you push the nap slightly later instead of reducing the time? And maybe try the evening meal slightly later so he’s definitely not hungry at night? I had to go cold turkey on night feeds but fortunately it worked after 2-3 weeks.

DS is 18 months and typical day is

7am wake (though he does go through spells of this begin 6 or even earlier) and milk

8am breakfast

12 lunch

12.30-2.30 a nap of 1.5-2 hrs in this time

2.30 milk

3.30 snack

6 dinner

7 bath (every other day)

7.20 story

7.30 milk/bed (I still bf for bedtime and first thing)

He’s usually asleep by 7.45/8 and we don’t typically get night wakings now unless he’s poorly, though we did also in the heat recently.

Dinosaurus86 · 27/06/2023 22:34

I still haven’t worked out how to get him to go to sleep by himself in the cot though. I have to rock him until he’s completely asleep and then put him down. If he’s even slightly awake then he’ll just cry and cry.

Scirocco · 27/06/2023 22:46

It's taken a long time to get to this point, @Newperson4 - for months we had to feed every 2 hours (medical reasons) and we were/are breastfeeding... It was brutal. It sounds like our DCs have similar sleep patterns, so at least we know we're not alone!

HelterSkelter224 · 27/06/2023 22:46

Up at 6am, lunch at 12, nap 1-3pm, dinner 5.30pm, bedtime routine 6.30pm (bath every 2-3 days, nappy, PJs and teeth), stories at 7, asleep at 7.30.
