Are these teething symptoms or something else?

Hi everyone , yesterday morning I rung the drs as my 5 month old had been vomiting alot during the night and his stools had increased , the dr saw him a couple hours later and he did another vomit in the drs. The dr actually said it wasn’t vomit as it dribbled from his mouth and not retched? I thought it was vomit if it was thicker and not just milk?

anyway sorry, the dr said he seemed fine temperature etc and said probably just a little virus but during his examination he noticed a little tooth at the bottom that had just erupted, I felt awful as I didn’t even know he’d been teething! But said that wouldn’t explain the vomiting and extra stools as they weren’t symptoms. I mentioned it to my friend and she said her LO always had diarrhoea with teething so now I’m thinking.

a lot of the vomiting/spit up is when he’s gnawing his teething toys and a lot is dribble , guess I should have noticed he was teething 😔 but he’s spitting up often sometimes once an hour and he’s gone from having an explosive poo once a night to now 6th just today! Though much smaller amounts.

can vomiting and lots of poo have anything to do with teething? Is there anything I can do if he’s In pain or is it safe to say he isn’t as he hasn’t been fussing etc?

thanks everyone

My DC were always ill or 'off' when teething, and I remember some teething nappies that still make me shudder.
Keep an eye on the vitals, breathing rate, temperature, alertness, to keep yourself reassured, but if these are normal it is likely teething.

Thank you for the reply, apart from the very frequent spit up and stools he seems completely fine. I will definitely keep a close eye on him though

I hope he's soon back to his old self. First molars are the worst. I remember large chunks of frozen fruit, banana particularly, were very soothing to gnaw on. Depending on which weaning advice you're following of course.
