Sleep training 15 month old

I have always rocked baby to sleep, and some might say that's wrong but it has always worked, up until recently, it could also just be the warm weather which has made baby fussy and harder to get to sleep, but my question is how to you go about sleep training without crying it out, do you just put them in cot and sit by them, what would be the beat approach

I've always had to cuddle my daughter to sleep and put her down in her cot when she was asleep, shes 15 months too.
It was getting harder to do this the bigger she got and she'd often wake up when I'd try to put her in her cot. Bedtime took hours.

About a month ago I started just settling her in her cot, sitting beside soothing her but never removing her from the cot, I sometimes leave the room for a minute or so if she's being abit silly and refusing to lie down, then when I come back in the room she's ready to calm down, I repeat leaving the room if I need to but its never for more than a minute. I just sit besidr her stroking her hair until shes asleep. It takes 20 minutes at most now which is a huge improvement from the 2 and a half bed time used to take. Next step is to work on her self soothing to sleep, but we'll get there. 😊

Good luck.

Sit next to them start with a hand on to reassure them after a few days if it's going well remove it. Then over a few days you should be able to move away.
