Not to have baby on picnic blanket in Park?

I took my children and baby(4 and a half months old)over the park and sat under a tree in the shade.the park is obviously popular with dog walkers, which I have no issue with.Anyway, a woman walked passed and loudly said to her dog "oh I can't let you off the lead, there's a BABY on the floor".slightly passive aggressive to me.for some reason,it's really grated on me since.

YABU. To the woman, the dog is her beloved fur baby. She might even identify as a dog herself and everyone should be able to enjoy the park, not just babies.

kidding 😂yanbu

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I love dogs. Have a few myself.

Fucking despise most dog owners.

Had picnics destroyed. Balls burst. Kids knocked over all because the majority of dog owners are entitled AF.

Worst one was chatting to me as her excitable puppy was eating all the food I'd spent hours preparing, saying "he's never done this before", mate I don't care, just stop him and please leave.

I avoid walking my dog at standard meal times due to an unfortunate picnic sandwich stealing incident a few years ago
Now he goes on the lead when we are near babies / toddlers as we have one and he will think that they are 'his' and go bounding up to them - daftly smilingly (but of course that shows his teeth!)

She's bonkers!

How do you know it was passive aggressive? I see so many threads these days on here where people report totally innocuous comments from others or whatever and insist the person must have been being deliberately rude/having a dig/whatever. If I heard someone say that I'd be grateful they were keeping their dog on a lead to help keep my baby safe. I had a puppy completely unsupervised run up to my 1 yo in a playground recently and sniff all around him with owners far away not even looking in the direction of their dog. I had to lift my son up and keep hold of him until the dog finally decided to leave, the owners never once looked in the dogs direction just kept walking further and further in the opposite direction. Now that was anxiety provoking having an unknown dog so close to my baby. I'd be thankful to anyone who kept their dog on a lead.

It was the attitude and the way she said it.i don't go around the park throwing dog owners dirty looks and saying to the baby "oh I can't put you down, there's a DOG off its lead".I have two dogs myself and am well aware dogs are especially curious with babies. If she had just walked 30 foot ahead there was a huge field she could have left the dog on.and if the dog did come bounding over,I would have had plenty of time to pick the baby up

She's an utter twat. I swear sometimes some people seem to think babies should exist.

Btw I thought your post was about giving birth to a baby in the park Grin please to see I was wrong.

Yes when I re read it back I saw what you ment 😂

How strange. If she doesn't trust her dig round children then surely being off the lead in public is out of the question anyway!

JaukiVexnoydi · 21/06/2023 21:43

If there was any reason why she wouldn't let her dog off the lead if she sees a baby, then she shouldn't be letting the dog off the lead at all except in designated dog-exercise areas. Any of the further-away trees could have a baby the other side of them, a park that isn't specifically designated a dog park is free-range for all sorts of sizes of humans and only those dogs which are reliably safe around any size of human.

Depends how she said it maybe? This is ringing alarm bells as I chat away to our dogs, and it’s the sort of thing I’d say out loud. I would be likely to say loud enough to be heard if I saw someone with small kids to keep safe - like “don’t worry about us, I’ve seen you and they won’t be appearing to bother you”. (I also frequently say very loudly stuff like “o no you don’t roll in that stuff it is vile”… but sadly their comprehension is dire!)

What an unnecessary comment from an entitled woman. I had my two under two having a picnic last week and this dog came sniffing over to our picnic blanket. The owner said don't worry she's friendly as the dog sniffed my toddler's food before I could put it away. Some people are so unbelievably clueless and selfish.

Eurgh I hate the "don't worry they are friendly" comment!!
