Hotel Rooms with 18 month old

Hi All

FTM to an 18 month old here, who we have just discovered is now able to climb out of her travel cot.

We are considering switching her to a toddler bed at home & the travel cot situation makes me feel like we’ll have to do the same for holidays too. We have a few lodge / caravan style breaks coming up where we have a room for her and room for us next door.

Getting her to stay in bed will be a challenge - but what I’m more concerned about is the actual room. How on earth do I toddler proof a lodge bedroom enough to leave her unsupervised in it overnight whilst we are asleep in the room next door?! And how do I stop her wandering to the kitchen for example?!

We have a monitor but I’m even worrying about the cable from that.

Many thanks!

Just leave both the bedroom doors open. Toddlers are noisy, they haven’t perfected the art of not making a racket. You will know when up.

Otherwise you might be able to take an adjustable baby gate with you and attach to door ( but my son could climb out of cot and travel cot at 18 months also, and he could also climb over baby gates around the same time so probably pointless)

We did stay actually in a 2 bed house around that age, and dh slept in the bedroom with toddler I think instead

You can't. You can sleep in the room with her though, which will reduce the chances of her getting up and wandering.

Put a mattress on the floor in your room or take something like a ready bed with you. Holidays with mobile/climbing toddlers are quite stressful from an accommodation point of view - everything is a hazard.
