Baby rolling in sleep

My 4 month old daughter has started rolling in her sleep. She sleeps in a Next 2 Me in our room, I keep waking up in the night to see her sleeping on her side. I try to roll her back but she will literally roll straight back onto her side. She suffers with wind quite a lot and I think being on her side is more comfortable.

I checked the NHS website for safe sleeping and it said “Once your baby is old enough to roll over, there's no need to worry if they turn onto their tummy or side while sleeping.”

Does this mean rolling over front to back, back to front? My daughter can roll onto her side and sometimes rolls back onto her back, if she rolls onto her tummy she can’t roll back yet.

Not sure what to do and just want to make sure she is safe.

It's fine. Keep putting her on her back but if she does it herself it's fine.

I can only give you my experience and that was that all mine rolled onto their tummy as soon as they could. It did worry me for a while then I just let them get on with it. Noone in the family smoked and we didn't co sleep which at the time was seen as more risky. Not sure what the advice is now but that NHS advice seems quite clear. Mine all slept really well that way.

My son did this. I used to wake up and he'd be on his side with his face close to the mesh of the bassinet and it would scare the bejesus out of me. Then he got older and sleeps on his tummy so I think he was working his way over. My dd never did either so I think it's a comfort thing.

@MyFavouriteKindOfBalloon @ChilliHealer @Labradoria thank you for your replies! I guess I will have to leave her to it, she’s started doing it today in her daytime naps in her cot and getting her leg stuck in the bars!
