Is it possible to fiddle the DNA test (England)?

My daughters ex asked for a DNA test after she applied for and was granted the princely sum of £45/month in maintenance. He is 100% the little boy's father but he hasn't seen his son for over a year. This chap sails very close to the wind in his life ie. cash in hand jobs/drugs. I would not put it passed him to get a mate to provide a sample/swab. Is this possible with the systems as they stand?

We are still in touch with his mother so could if necessary get a grand parent test if he does try to defraud the system.

Please tell me I am paranoid and that systems are in place to stop men like this cheating on the test. Thanks.

Can't the court provide with DNA testing and her Ex will ethier meet the DNA testing person(don't know what they called) or they will meet her EX at his place

When I was in a similar position with a CMS DNA test all three parties had the DNA test at the GP and had to provide a signed passport type photo at the time of the test.

IANAL or any kind of expert in this field :) BUT it does occur to me that a man with a signed passport photo could also have a 'sample' from a friend in his pocket to produce at the correct moment?

But are we talking about semen analysis or a cheek swab? If cheek swab is administered by staff to someone with photo ID then that should be pretty hard to fake.

Sorry to hear this OP and hope your DD has higher standards for her next partner. :(

It's a cheek swab for all parties. XH and DS had to have one even though we knew XH was the father as I lived abroad and he wasn't on the birth certificate and the UK required the test for citizenship.

He went, showed ID and did a cheek swab. It would be easier to fake the baby honestly as the baby doesn't have ID but I doubt anybody really does that.

Thank you for the reassurance. I had visions of it being like an Ancestry test where a swab or spit sample is sent off to a lab without any proof of who it was from. If he has to be present when the sample is taken there's much less chance of him playing silly buggers.

It was a blood test, looks like things have moved on to saliva tests now.

The good thing about a DNA test from CMS is that the fuckers have to pay for the test once it is proved that they are the fathers!
