We are toying with the idea of no.4 but want an idea of pros and cons.
We only have a 3 bed semi but would cope. We have a zafira so, do have the room in the car....also would you leave a bigger gap or the sooner the better???? DS is 4.4,dd1 2.2 and dd2 nearly 14mths

Ahh, right, will CAT you then

Paula - congratulations!!!! That's fab news

ladytophamhatt · 21/02/2008 21:17

Its been fine nemo, I thought it would be hard because ds3 had been my baby for so long but he was fine. He was as besotted by his newborn a baby brother as much as I was, we've never had any jealousy at all.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 21/02/2008 21:18

thankyou all

when folk congratulate me it is a very mixed bag!

pedilia you sound similar to me. When dd4 was born they were 8.5, 3.1 & 1.11 honest the first year was easy then dd4 starting demanding a say in what she got to do oh and dd2 started school - yuck!

Divastrop · 21/02/2008 21:19

just go for it

only advice is get a t-shirt printed with:

YES we have a telly
YES it was planned
We will manage just fine,thanks,so
STFU!

to wear when you start showing

ladytophamhatt · 21/02/2008 21:21

Why paula?

in RL or on here?

IME people generally think you're insane to have any more the 2 so if its that I understand what you mean.

pedilia · 21/02/2008 21:23

CG- why yuck at the starting school, should that not be yay

Nemoandthefishes · 21/02/2008 21:23

I have had a lot of arsey comments about having my 3 so close together and even when breaking the news of being pg with dd2 it was meant with a resounding 'oh'
think thats another thing that puts dh off but I sort of think well we dont really ask anyone for help [although FIL bought us a washing machine this week we were about to buy a second hand one from ebay without his help]

cazzybabs · 21/02/2008 21:24

Paula - they are only jealous (I know I am!!!)

Nemoandthefishes · 21/02/2008 21:26

Funny isnt it big families used to be the norm and now a lot of people see them as irresponsible..or like you dont know what birth control is..People seemed shocked we had chosen to concieve dd2 with only a 12mth age gap

OP posts:
PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 21/02/2008 21:33

we have had 'we dont know whether or not to congratulate you or not'
we have had 'dont ask it will be a boy'
'when are you going to stop'
the list is endless !
'you are NOT' is the norm!

go for it nemo - it feels natural to me

cazboldy · 21/02/2008 21:35

Diva - your t-shirt idea is fab!

cazboldy · 21/02/2008 21:36

just add "YES they are all mine" on the back!

pedilia · 21/02/2008 21:38

I keep getting 'are youb a glutton for punisment'
'then are you getting sterlised'

Nemo- that is what annoys me, no-one helps us look after our children we do!!
I also have horses and people have said' so you'll have to sell one now then'
err why???

Nemoandthefishes · 21/02/2008 21:46

pedilia I either get /you would be loopy to have more or people thinking I do nothing but lay down and get pg..lol

JaamyButty · 22/02/2008 00:51

Nemo! I saw this topic and thought, "I wonder who that is...surely not Nemo". And here you are!!!

So, now we know what your DH is getting for his birthday! Any news about babysitting at the weekend? Maybe I shouldn't have offered if it means that you're going to be off out making #4 on a park bench somewhere!

nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 07:40

nemo can i ask how you find a 12 month age gap? is it extremeley difficult having 2 that close together?

Nemoandthefishes · 22/02/2008 08:16

pmsl jaamy I know I know..but you know how unsure I am..

Nappyaddict the 12mth gap has been fine couple of minor things like teething together were a bit rough but not too horrendous.

I had scan today and am having another girl, 2 of each perfect

cazboldy · 22/02/2008 16:40

pedilia - I have horses aswell!

I get the " I don't know how you get the time" comments etc etc

cazboldy · 22/02/2008 16:41

oh and congratulations on your scan, glad all is well x

Nemoandthefishes · 22/02/2008 16:56

congrates pedilia..if I told dh we would 100% have a boy next time I dont think he would hesitate..lol He loves the idea of 2 of each...think he fears being completely outnumbered by hormonal ladies.

AnAngelWithin · 22/02/2008 16:59

tbh going from 3 to 4 is a piece of....erm....cake. lol once you have got 3, the 4th just slots in! to the point of debating a fifth

good luck!

Ecmo · 22/02/2008 17:05

I have 4 year gap between my 3rd and 4th. mine are now 14,12,10 and 6. Only reason for gap is we stopped at 3 then I got REALLY broody and it took me a year to persuade dh to have another and then a year to conceive.

andlittlelambmakesfour · 22/02/2008 17:18

Now - I have 14, 13, 11 and 2 and it is great! Mind 1,2,and 3 are girls and 4 is a boy and adored by his big sisters. And he is very grounding for them in teenage upheaval. I stopped at three partly because worried about no 4 being a boy and totally overwhelmed by three really close girls, partly because of post grad degree and career change, partly because my mum died (at 54) when dd3 was 1 and partly because I had three miscarriages. Then I realised that baby days were about to be over and we tried again. Best thing we ever did! I would love another but .... that's another story.
