Any tips on getting DC to not cause such a fuss and drama about getting suncream on.... I swear I absolutely dread it as turns into a huge fuss with tears and tantrums......DC are 5'10 and 13 (13 year old isn't bad)

DS is 5 and a fair skinned, freckly ginger.
Hes started kicking off about having sun cream
in, so I showed him pictures of sun burn and we talked it through. He had no particular issues with the suncream, it was just big standard kid defiance rather than anything more than that.

Sprays make it easier, Aldi do a great 'dry mist' one. Much quicker than rubbing cream on

MrsSamR · 13/06/2023 08:30

Not sure if it would help but I let my 3 year old smear it all over me while I do hers and that seems to distract her enough to get it on!

DS10 can't stand suncream. We tried Neutrogena Beach Defence Stick recently and he's ok with that as it's not gloopy. No use for school but for days out we've got long sleeved rash vests from Decathlon to wear instead of tops so don't have to tackle arms.

My 7 year old hates sun cream we have found the gel ones are better as soak in so much easier - currently using ultra sun sports gel it's pricey but once a day. Then on their face I use a spray mist bit of a faff having two but has stopped the screaming

This is what we use. So much quicker and easier.

Sprays definitely lessen the pain for us: they have to stand outside with arms outstretched and I circle them spraying liberally 😁

Seasonofthewitch83 · 13/06/2023 13:10

Do the sprays work on the face as long as they keep their eyes closed?

grimmers44 · 13/06/2023 16:49

I saw a clip on fb of someone using a bronzer brush to apply it...seemed to work well on the video!

Gardenclems · 13/06/2023 16:51

Every once in a while my DD tries it on. I just say we aren’t going out unless she has it on. Walk away, put the tv on or pick up a book. Within about 5 mins she’ll come over and ask for it on. Then we have no problems for the next 3-4 months

SecretVictoria · 13/06/2023 21:49

I also hate sun cream on my skin and it always gives me spots on my chest. I use either Ultra Sun gel or the P20 spray.

Think it's recommended to spray onto hands and then apply to face but I do get them to use cream on face

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 14/06/2023 21:51

Roll on. Think boots do a roll on or you can get solar buddies and fill it yourself with any suncream

Twinlifey · 14/06/2023 21:58

La Roche posay do a sun stick. Goes on so clean. Great for the face, no fear of getting it in their eyes.

LeoEisor · 14/06/2023 22:01

I use boots kids 8 hour sun tea applied with a big fluffy makeup brush and mess around saying I'm painting her lol. Sounds silly but works and she gets a good coverage it seems with the brush

LunaLoveFood · 14/06/2023 22:09

I've started using the aerosol spray, it's quick and dry rather than sticky and provides good protection and the dc don't mind it being reapplied.
