Moving 2 month old to pushchair

We are thinking of moving our 2 month old over to the pushchair because she gets so worked up in the bassinet. It reclines all the way back and she would also be strapped in.
Has anyone else done this at 2 months and found it has helped with babies fussiness when out?

There are pushchairs that are suitable from birth . You need to check

I was told babies should use the bassinet until 6 months to help with spine development and also not safe to use the stroller until they can hold their head up themselves?

I had a maclaren techno pushchair from day 1 with first child to the last day of needing a pushchair with the second! no need for anything else, as long as it's a lie flat one which is suitable from birth.

Mine went in the main forward facing pushchair just before three months. It could be fully reclined and so was suitable from birth. She did prefer it to being in the carrycot, yes.
If your pushchair is suitable from birth then there is no reason to not just give it a go. It will either help or it won't. I trialled mine out around the house before committing to an outing.

If it's designed from birth it will lay flat just the same so spine not an issue. They are not sat up and many have interior head support.
In the heat they can allow more air flow

It’s only ok to do if the seat is suitable from birth, and if it is also check you don’t need a special insert e.g. the uppababy prams need the snug seat insert. If not then maybe try a sling or the carseat on the pram frame but keep thar to under an hour.

As long as pushchair lies completely flat, if its just the seat that reclines then no 2 months is too young

lasfir · 12/06/2023 22:17

I also used a lie flat pushchair that was suitable from birth, from the beginning, we never used a bassinet at all as they're so impractical for public transport. No issues at all with spine development (they are older now).

A car seat is much worse than a lie flat pushchair as the position is terrible for their spine, so I wouldn't use one unless you are actually in a car.

My mum has a Jolie from birth push chair she uses for when she had the grand kids. She's put them all in it from birth and no issues.
It was cheap as chips and to be honest one of the best long lasting - its gone through 4 grand kids and she also takes it shopping with her!
As long as its one designed to be used from birth its fine

As others have said just be sure to check it fully reclines otherwise 2 months is too early to be in one that doesn't

Spottypineapple · 14/06/2023 11:41

Fine if it lies flat....but if it does then not much different to the bassinet?

Toddler101 · 14/06/2023 11:45

I found that our 'lie-flat, suitable from birth' pushchair doesn't really like completely flat so with DC1 I didn't use it until 7m!

Is baby finding it hot in the bassinet/carrycot at the moment and that is causing fussiness perhaps? Maybe get a small clip on fan?

GayPareeee · 14/06/2023 11:53

We found the same DS hated the carrycot as so hot and touched the sides but was much happier in the maclaren techno.

As an aside all mine were much happier facing out than parent facing too. I used to have to feed them in it too as hated lying down to feed, it was around that age they became nosy!

Summerishereagain · 14/06/2023 11:56

Yep. I did with DD1 in a Uppababy Cruz as she was too long for the bassinet. We did buy a new born insert. We actually ended up not putting her completely flat as she had bad reflux (still medicated for it at 7 yrs) and it helped.

There was no way it would be safe to put mine in bassinet up to six months as they would have been crawling out of them.
