Night-time nappies

Hiya,
My ds is 4 very soon, and still wears nappies at bed. Nappies are still wet in the morning, and tbh, I am not really concerned. Hiwever, my GP asked if ds was dry over night, said No, and GP said it is worth just taking him to bed without a nappy on.

I don't think ds is ready.

What's best? What age is late for bed nappies?

Thanks

if you dont feel ready dont do it but they genuinly will encourage you to try before starting school

you could try and then put him on potty when you go to bed boots do there own bed sheets 10 for 3 pound something

you could pop one of these under and see how he goes i would be trying to get my ds dry for about 4

but if his not ready his not ready but you could be surprised he maybe doesnt get up because he knows he doesnt have to with a nappy on GOOD LUCK

I think that 7 is the age of concern for the medical profession. My son was dry from 2 1/2 in the day but wore a nappy at night.

It was always soaking in the morning even at aged 4 and he was 4.3 months and about to start school so we thought we would tackle it only because his nappies leaked so the bed needed changing anyway every morning.

We left him with nothing on his bottom half, stopped all drinks from 5pm so he had his last drink with his tea, and we lifted him as we went to bed.

He had a few accidents but like I say we had to change his sheets because of the nappy otherwise we would have left it.

We had PEVA waterproof sheet on his mattress so that we didn't have to wash it we could just wipe it down with some disinfectant. Cheap 4tog duvets from Matalan that we can wash in our washing machine, and cheap fitted sheets.

If he is not ready, then he is not ready. Lots of my friends girls and boys were about 4 or 5 and still wearing nappies at night.

With my son, if you put a nappy on him he would use it

My ds was dry the summer before he started school (age 4.25), but he started wetting after he started at school, generally as he was so knackered that he wasn't waking up. After weeks of two lots of sheets a night, we put him back in pyjama pants, and at 5.75, he is still wet every night, with the occasional leak. I was worried about it, and we have tried to do without, lifting him at different times etc, but nothing works. My HV wasn't unduly worried about it when I asked her last week and said boys are often much later than girls and that it wouldn't be till he was seven before they would do anything about it from a medical point of view.....but it still concerns me.

I should try again, but have had a new baby in the house and other things seem to get in the way

My ds is almost 5 and still in nappies at night. I mentioned it to my doc and he said they wouldn't really treat it as a problem until about the age of 7, especially in boys. He is wet every night. We did try taking him out of the nappies about 6 months ago with no drinks after 5pm, wee before bath, wee after bath, lifting at about 10.30.... and he was still wet by morning. I do think he has a problem with emptying bladder completely but doc just said his bladder hasn't "matured" yet. He wears the largest size pull ups so if he does happen to wake for the toilet in the night, he can go easily (size 6 shops own brand). I'm hoping he'll fit into these a bit longer as pyjama night time pants are more expensive!

I wouldn't worry. I used to but then once at a 4th birthday party, one of the mums dropped it into conversation, and there were at least 4 other mums who said they still had nappies at night - you'd be surprised how many in his class probably still wear nappies at night, it just doesn't get mentioned!
