Should I push for intervention?

23 month old not walking, walks on knees and crawls. Gp not making any referrals, should I be pushing for more help/ advice yet? Had bad experience with gp not helping my 3 year old with his diet when he really needed it, undiagnosed allergy for 2 years so I have trouble trusting them now. Is it time to be pushing for more investigation? Tia

Yes definitely. Push to see a different GP and also make a complaint.

My DS had delayed gross motor skills and it turned out to be hypermobility. He needed physio and some special insoles.

Could speak to the health visitor instead.

Thank you, I suspected so. How is your son now?

I have no clue who his health visitor is, haven't heard from them since he was tiny. He should have a 2 year check though surely

My son's just had his 2 year check at 2 years 8 months so I wouldn't rely on that!
Perhaps ask your GP if they have the HV details?

@bettynutkins excellent I will do! Thank you

He’s walking now thanks, just behind with other things like steps. Needed private physio on top of NHS though.

Tbh I wouldn’t bother with the HV, as they will tell you the GP needs to make referral.

If you can afford it, the best thing you can do in the meantime is contact a private physio who deals with children, as the NHS physio will be a very long wait. You have to be seen by a consultant first who then needs to refer you to physio.

Definitely ask for a referral to physiotherapy for assessment.

Not where I live they wouldn't. HVs make referrals here.

Our LA also has a physiotherapy advice line. Might be worth looking on the local Offer Page for your LA to see if they have similar - or your HA website.
