Hi everyone

wanted some advice from everyone as this is the place I go for answers, so I decided to make an account, me and my wife have a newborn who is roddy, the weather is so hot, what is best for him being in clothing wise? I feel like just a vest is okay but don’t want him to be cold? Also another quick one, he is hungry before his 3 hour feed, Al I okay to give him a little milk snack?

thank you guys :)

Vest and a cotton sheet is fine and yes feed on demand if he's hungry. Not sure what roddy means.

He should were roughly one layer more then you in cold weather and one layer less then you when it's warm. So if your in short, then baby I vest. If your in long trousers then baby in shorts.

Rigid 3 hour feeding schedules are pretty outdated, did you get that advice from an older relative? Current guidelines I've seen all say newborns are should be fed on demand.

Thank you very much for your help, and everyone else, it’s all very nerve racking 😂
because sometimes he will only drink 25ml (recommended 30-40ml) as he’s a prem baby, then he gets snackish, and I feel guilty for not feeding him, we don’t want to use pacifier through the day, we don’t want dependence on it, so I’m going to feed him
as he desires, any other tips would be greatly appreciated lol

If he was Premature, I'd post in the Premature Birth Section and ask for some tips on feeding Flowers

My ds was born at 32 and was fed on demand which was about every 2 hrs. It was also hot when he was born so lived in a vest with a cotton sheet in his cot or pram or when we held him. The SCBU encouraged the use of a dummy but he wasn't having any of it 🤣 Ds liked little and often with milk and didn't start draining bottles until he was much older.

I also imagine someone telling me, when it's hot weather, that I can't have any more water until 3 hours have passed because "that's the schedule". Please feed your little baby when he is hungry/thirsty.

I agree

My son was very prem and we always fed on demand. If baby is hungry then follow their lead, it’s a positive sign I think! Great for their development and weight gain.

Thank you everyon, extremely helpful, we made the decision to go by him, and what he wants, as agreed if he’s hungry the schedule means nothing.
