Time to drop 25mo naps?

25 mo DD has always been a pretty good sleeper but is now taking up to 90 minutes to go to sleep at night. She has an hour nap (which we've capped for a few months now) between 1 and 2pm and usually goes to sleep well for this but she is now fighting her sleep in the evening and playing and chatting in her bed(once asleep she sleeps through). We've tried a few times without the nap in the day and she has been fine and we've put her to bed earlier, with her falling asleep within minutes. The reason I am reluctant to drop the nap is because she goes to sleep for it so well, does this indicate she still needs it even though she is happy enough on the days when she doesn't have a nap?

If she's fine without the nap and is sleeping better at night without then it's probably time for the nap to go.

You may find that she needs it occasionally but not every day for a while.

Most 2 year olds nap some 3 year olds nap generally if they fall asleep quickly at nap times they need it. Over tiered children take longer to go to sleep just like most of us when we're exhausted you can't turn your brain off.
They typically need 12 to 14 hours sleep in 24. With around 6 hour awake periods.

Mine dropped their nap around 25m for similar reasons - it was taking 2hrs at bedtime!! We had been capping nap to 45m for a couple of months prior.

It was pretty rough for a week or 2, toddler would get exhausted by 4pm but we powered through and brought both dinner/tea and bedtime earlier, it didn't last long. Toddler started sleeping through the night when the nap dropped, too 🙌
