Any pool inflatables for 2 under 2 alone?

Hi I’m going away soon with my 19 month old and 5 month old. I was just wondering if anyone else had been in this situation and what they did? Is there any inflatables for two children etc? As I don’t want them to miss out on going in the water but also want to be safe. Thanks.

I doubt this exists it sounds terribly unsafe. The five months old is safest just being held by an adult. Same for 19month old, or perhaps a floaty vest if used to the water and being supervised by an additional adult.

The five month old could go in one of those rubber rings with a seat and have the older one in a puddle jumper. Or get a seat for the older one too, but make sure it's big enough as they're mostly for under 18 months.

Or leave the little one strapped in the buggy and swim with the bigger one (assuming a pool where you have loungers round the edge and can leave the baby in the shade asleep/watching and swim next to them).

We used this with our 10mo last week and they do a smaller size. Having said that I really don’t think it’s safe to be 2:1 in the water with such young children. Could you do 1:1 whilst the other one is napping? That way they don’t miss out but it’s a lot less risky!

Plenty of pools let you have 2:1 ratio, it's not that unusual, although I'd personally stay in the toddler pool. Id probably hold the little one and put the older one in a float vest close by.

Are you going abroad? No pool in the U.K. would allow two children with one adult

? All the leisure centres near me allow 2:1.

Anyway, you could put the baby in a sling and then you're all good

The swimming pools near me require 1:1 for children under age 4.

I would have a swim seat for the youngest and a wearable flotation device/life jacket for the older child

Hugasauras · 09/06/2023 19:12

Yes pools here are all 1 to 1 ratio for under 4s. Are you totally solo, OP?

bornintheuk2 · 09/06/2023 19:13

Sounds like a recipe for drowning.

Carryonkeepinggoing · 09/06/2023 19:16

I’d put the toddler in an actual life jacket. Not a swim vest. A life jacket that will hold them up in the water the right way up with no effort.
inflatable baby seats can flip upside down. I’m been there when it happened (kid was rescued).

I’m not sure functional life jackets exist for 5month olds.
