Bedtime audiobooks for anxious 10yo boy?

Hi there
my DS10 has ADHD, tics and anxiety. He wants to go to sleep at bedtime, but often can’t wind down, and then he gets himself into a tizz worrying that he won’t ever get to sleep…
He has an Alexa Echo in his room- could we play audiobooks or some kind of bedtime stories with nice calming voices? Can anyone recommend any that a 10yo boy who’s into Star Wars, gaming, mountain biking and football would be able to wind down listening to after lights out?
thanks!

Have a look at the 'Moshi' app and give the free trial
A whirl. Moshi is Alexa compatible. My child is same age and this is what we use. X

Just William stories read by Martin Jarvis. Funny and sweet about a ten year old boy getting into normal mischief.

Bizarrely, my ten year old loved all the Enid Blyton on Audible! Famous Five, Secret Seven, Valley of Adventure etc... and, of course, The Faraway Tree series.

I was so surprised.

He's also enjoyed the Harry Potter audibles

Tried my son, who sounds similar, with the calm app, I thought it was great but he didn’t like it. So he listens to ‘smash boom best’ and ‘greeking out’ podcasts. Both are fairly loud and not calm, but we play them quietly and they do help him settled.

On a side note I’d be interested to know about the ADHD/Tics/anxiety. My child have anxiety and tics and I’ve been wondering about ADHD recently. Sounds very similar so interested in what you noticed and how you ended up with diagnosis. Did you approach the school initially?

Hi - yes they are all common co-occurring conditions. Not many kids with ADHD have that as the only diagnosis.

My son had facial tics age 4/5 whoch we noticed but didn’t do anything about as his older brother ticced too. In Y3 school noticed he was very easily distracted etc (we had already noticed ADHD signs at home but never actually discussed it - for example we had bought him a yoga ball to bounce on in the living room as he couldn’t sit still on the sofa!), so we had him assessed and he was diagnosed with ADHD, sensory processing disorder and tic disorder all at once. Last month he was also diagnosed with Dyspraxia.

His anxiety overarches everything, and it’s what gives him (and us) the hardest challenges.

Does he like 'how to train your dragon'? Audiobook narrated by David Tennant are great.
Another book we've really enjoyed was the 2 parts of Roahl Dalhs autobiography - very funny and interesting narrated by Dan Stevens.
Hitch hikers Guide maybe too?

My DS10 and DD7 both love Fortunately The Milk by Neil Gaiman to fall asleep to. They listen to it over and over again.

When DH was around the same age and struggled sleeping, he had tapes of Lord of the Rings which he listened to when he was going to sleep.
