Dropping nap at 2??

Hi,
I've posted this before, but still driving myself mad not knowing what to do.
My nearly 2 year old still needs a nap in the day. He is tired and struggles in the early evening without one. He's always been a challenge to get to sleep, even when he's tired. An hour feeding, rocking and singing is a good night. The only way he will go to sleep is being rocked and breastfed by me, but when he is resisting, he flaps and fights to get out of my arms, when he's just dropping off - I can't physically restrain him.
If he wasn't tired we would just get up, but the frustrating thing is that I know he needs sleep.
This happens every night unless he doesn't nap in the daytime. I feel like if I drop the nap it would be to make my life easier- cutting 2 hours plus of work getting him to sleep a day. So, what's the answer? 😆 Am I being selfish? Would it impact on his development if I drop the nap early?
Thank you!

Dropping naps does not mean they sleep better. When they are overtired they are like hamsters on a wheel and can't stop....like us when we're exhausted and think I'll sleep well tonight and don't.
Have you looked at gradual withdrawal.....yes it does take a long time for the first week or so but gets quicker if you stick to it....you sit next to them but not in bed and no talking after the first it's bed time.every time they get up you lay them down....I use a hand on to start with.

I disagree.
I often think we worry about over tiredness when really under tiredness is usually to blame.
You could trial a shorter 30 min nap at first
