4 year old regressing with toilet training?!

My 4 year old has been fully toilet trained and in pants since just before he turned 3. He had the occasional accident but rarely. The last couple of months however he's been having accidents a lot, sometimes twice a day at nursery and always says it's because he was too busy playing. He has done it at home too but less so. Always wee accidents. They've gone from happening very rarely, once a month ish to happening multiple times a week. This morning he's pooed himself in his pants and just keeps saying it was an accident.

He's fine in himself, he's a clever boy and has no additional needs and when I'm googling it's saying about regression in kids with autism which doesn't really fit him. I'm at a bit of a loss because both the skills and understanding are there so I don't know how to stop it?

its normal to a certain extent. Don’t make a fuss about it. I worked in Reception class for years and we had a lot of accidents.
Keep an eye on it for now. Is he constipated by any chance? Overflow happens due to constipation and they can’t help it,

Age 7 is when you need to I worry, remember most of Europe have their children in kindergarten to age 7. We expect a lot at an early age

Sometimes they regret because something has stressed them out - any changes in his life lately?

Don't worry though, as a pp said, it's not unheard of and will right itself

Could it be constipation? Try reading the Eric continence website. It is very good
