Frequent night wakings but less milk!

DD has just turned 6 weeks old and usually she can go around 2.5-3, sometimes 4 hours at night without a feed.
Typically she would take around 3-4oz during the nighttime feedings, however she has recently started waking every 30-40 mins, acting hungry every 1.5 hours and only taking 1-2oz.
She’s a great feeder during the day and will drink anywhere up to 5.5oz every 3-4 hours.
Is this a sign of a growth spurt maybe? Why is it only happening at night? Is there a reason for the frequent wakings and drinking less? Mama needs sleep!🤣

It could very well be a growth spurt, there usually one around 6 weeks.

4 hours is a long time for a 6 week old to go in the day though and she could well be trying to catch up on her calories.

I'd try going no longer than every 3 hours today without offering a bottle Wink

I thought that but I’ve been told not to wake her for a feed if she’s asleep, which she usually is at around the 3 hour mark.
I do take into account that she was 2 weeks late and currently way over birth weight.
I’m afraid of over feeding her too since she does like to guzzle almost 6oz throughout the day!
Also, I’m a first time mum so I just worry about absolutely everything😅 Maybe I’ll try waking her after 3 hours and see how we go.

I don't think that waking her after 3 hours is unreasonable. Whilst night weaning isn't recommended until they are 12 months, there's nothing wrong with a bit of gentle encouragement to get them to take their calories during the day Wink

I'd wake in the day to feed if it had been 3hrs between feeds. 6oz does sound a lot, although I struggle to get more than 3-4oz at a time in my 16 week old so maybe my perception is skewed. Unfortunately waking frequently is very normal for a 6 week old (but very tough), sleep will go up and down for a while. I'd keep an eye to see if they were suffering from any reflux or wind and if that is waking them more at night.

She’s a chunk, she loves her food and has since birth! She’s currently eating every 2 hours in the day now without me having to wake her so I’m thinking this is definitely a growth spurt as it’s not her usual.
We had a great night with her last night, waking every 3 hours instead of every 40 minutes so maybe something was bothering her.
