1 year jabs

Baby has 1 year jabs booked in for next month (few days before his birthday)
It's booked in for a Friday and we have a holiday planned for the Monday.

I'm just a tad worried he won't be in the mood/ maybe a bit poorly for a holiday that soon after? Or am I being daft?

His first jabs he was pretty unwell after (middle of the heatwave which didn't help) the next two he was fine bar a temp.

I've heard these are the worst though?

Holiday is only in the uk and only 4 nights but we do have an option to change it. Only problem then is trying to move my annual leave.

Think we will be ok? FTM so no idea what these ones are like

As per the other thread running just under this one, some children have side effects 6-10 days after the MMR vaccination.

My little one had nothing (he had his at 9.5months) but some do

Unfortunately impossible to say! 😕

Thank you.
Will keep our holiday booked for now and keep fingers crossed

My DS had a measles rash 10 days after his jabs, he was fine the first week though.

Mine got a bit poorly about a week after

I'd reschedule the jabs or holiday to be on the safe side.

@Cluelessfirstimer Don't book in before he actually turns one - they can't be given until he's had his birthday. You'll have a wasted trip!

Have them when you get back from your break.

I'd move the jab booking just to be sure. If you're struggling to rearrange, then make sure where you book has a bath and take plenty of infant paracetamol and ibuprofen. When my baby was ill after jabs, the bath really helped (I had to go in with him). He wasn't registering a temperature, but a bath seemed to soothe him.

I've also found going for cake at a café really helped him clamping down after jabs. He was a nosey baby who liked to people watch and have something sweet. So I think he'd probably have been better on holiday than at home as long as he was only a little unwell.

My son was fine until 10 days after when he was poorly and had the rash

K2012 · 31/05/2023 17:01

Sorry to jump in on this topic, what did the rash look like? How long did it last for, do you have treatment for it or does it go away on its own?

Teddybearspicnic3 · 31/05/2023 17:06

OP, I'm a nurse at a GP surgery and do chipdmhood imms everyday- your DS won't be able to have them before he's actually one so I would cancel and rebook for after your holiday
