Hi,
I don't know if this is common or something to be worried about but my little boy won't poop when we are out. This has been going on for months.
If we are out say at the park or doing activities he won't go then as soon as we get home he will go. He will also go in my mums house or my partners mums house who both look after him while I'm at work but not anywhere else. I'd hate to think he was holding it in. Has anyone else experienced this? Surly at that age they can't consciously hold it in can they? He does hate having his bum changed in general.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you x

I’m the same to be fair. I’m only comfortable in the house.

I found when I worked with kids it was common for them not to poo the first few days at nursery. I guess because they weren’t relaxed yet. It doesn’t sound massively harmful unless he’s holding it for long periods or getting distressed.

My daughter did this, was handy for toilet training not much later tbh.

And yes babies and young toddlers can have some control, if you look up elimination communication you'll probably find accounts of babies holding it till offered the potty

My oldest did this. She toilet trained very quickly at just 2. Once she got to 3 she was happy to go in any toilet.
