so my nearly 2 year old had his first accident in my bed last night he wee’ed in it and it’s brand new duck fethers i’ve tryed to clean it up etc but i’m undecided wether to bother taking it to dry cleaners my mom said i should because it’s duck fethers and thell hold the wee within them and will smell (i struggle to smell after having covid 2 years ago i can only smell odd things here and ghost smells) i’ve cleaned it up with disinfectant and fabric odour stuff etc and stain remover i wanna know if i should be bothered by getting it cleaned properly or wether that should be ok as little one just drinks soya milk eats porridge and odd other things everyday wanna know other peoples opinions on this .. cause i don’t want to drag a king size duvet to dry cleaners for no reason 🤷🏼‍♀️or wether i should to prevent it getting worse over time ?

I'd not bother... give it a good air outside and see if it's smelly. If you can smell it after doing that then maybe bother with the dry cleaners

Does your mum live close enough to give it a sniff for you?! 🤣 Not sure I would ask anyone else so if in doubt I’d take it to the laundrette for a wash and dry, get them to do it though so you don’t need to hang around there for hours waiting. Stale urine usually stinks even if they eat porridge with soya milk (??) and as your mum says it will likely have soaked through so I doubt some disinfectant on the surface and a liberal spray of febreeze will have done much.

I can't read that, use some punctuation!

Piss on a duvet - hang it out in the sun to air, it'll probably be fine.

A) just wash it in the washing machine
B) what do you mean it should be ok because your 2 year old just drinks soya milk and eats porridge?!

SuperGinger · 30/05/2023 16:24

Wash it in the washing machine and tumble dry it

FlounderingFruitcake · 30/05/2023 16:32

Or yeah if it fits in your washing machine and dryer then do that! I was assuming it was too big- our washing machine has a bigger capacity but our dryer doesn’t so anything bigger than the toddler’s single always goes to the laundrette but thankfully that’s just annual maintenance because we never did bed sharing.

Don't wash it in your washing machine, wet down absolutely stinks and it'll stink your house out! Either air it or dry clean it imo!

boboshmobo · 31/05/2023 16:32

Duvets don't get dry cleaned , they get washed . If you look at the label it says do not dry clean!

If you have a tumble dryer just wash it , do an extra spin and then tumble dry ot or line dry it if it's super hot . Feathers need to be dried quickly or they smell .

Presumably it's not a 15 tog as it's summer because they will be very heavy when wet and could damage your machine on spin !
