Hi, My LO will be going into nursery 2 days a week and a childminder 2 days a week and then the other day will be spent with either me (using annual leave), husband (using annual leave) and my mum. I also have a random day off in the week most weeks due to my shift pattern so will look after her then as well. We have to use these childcare settings due to circumstances (long story) my worry is is this too many care givers? Not that there’s much I can do about it but just wanted anyone’s experiences please.

Being completely honest with you it does seem a lot. A child will benefit more from 1 or two main caregivers ie mum and nursery key worker ..
but like you say there's not other option? Xx

It’s not great OP, in part about the caregivers but I think that will be easier to over come than the constantly changing routines.

Nursery will have 1 routine, the child minder another and then another one at home. The timings and just what general life is like for them will be changing so much it could be difficult for them to settle in any one of the settings.

I think that just doing 2 days in nursery out of 7 is harder for DC than doing more days as it takes them so much longer to get used to than DC who are there on more days. And there’s getting used to all the different bugs in all the different settings.

But if they’re your only childcare options then it is what it is.

Children do adapt quickly at that age and some babies have an easy going temperament where they settle quickly anywhere. Try it and see how it goes? Her being safe, cared for and loved is paramount, even if that’s in multiple locations.

can you put her on the waiting list for full time hours at either the nursery or childminder? My DS used to do 2days nursery and 2 days childminder until the childminder had more availability then we switched to 4 days childminder after about 6 months.

Ok thanks everyone, I pray she has no attachment issues that affect her into adulthood. As soon as we are able we will try to put her just into one setting.
