Hello

I'm joining the PTA at my daughters school and one of the tasks they asked me to do it present some ideas of how we can improve their current processes.

I've this parent app online and wondered if anyone else had heard of it/ used and what your thoughts on using were if you have?

Thanks,

Emily

How does Classlist work?

Join the UK’s largest school parent community app - Parents use the app to plan and make friends whilst Parent Associations love the events and ticketing features.

The last thing I would want as a parent is yet another app to check.

Do parents not already just use Whatsapp and have class groups already?

I'd be wary of any PTA that tasks a new member to present improvement ideas before they have got stuck in and learned how it works from the inside.

We do have Whatsapp group chats for each class, the trouble with those is that messages can sometimes get lost amongst the daily messages. Also, not all parents are on the chat

Jesus, who auditions new PTA members like this? We’re lucky if anyone even hints they might want to join.

I'm on the pta in primary school. We have a fb page for pta, also fb page per year group, and most classes have a what's app group. When we have an event we do a post on pta page and ask pta members to then share within year groups and what's app. Just need to make sure have at least one parent per year on the pta! The school are almost good at distributing letters or an email if asked. This seems to work well. If parents want to be engaged, they will be, and if they don't want to be engaged it doesn't matter how you communicate to them! I don't think another app/system will help. That would rely on parents actively seeking out info - I think they need to be fed it and not have to be proactive.
You might want to find out what problems the pta are trying to solve so you know what type of solution to look into.

I dislike Classlist and rarely look at messages via it.

We’ve tried it in three of the schools my children have been at. It’s definitely not a replacement for a what’s app group, the ads are annoying and it’s not really used much apart from while school announcements for the PTA.
