Parents taking my child on holiday abroad- will they need some sort of letter of documents

Parents taking my child (age 4) abroad , he does not have the same surname as them, will they need to bring some sort of documents or a letter from myself to show airport staff?

Bit worried the airport might flag something up with child being under 18 and having different surname to them

Yeah they do need a letter from you, my MIL took my daughter abroad when she was little and needed one from me or her dad to confirm she had permission.

Assuming travelling from the UK? Info in what's needed HERE

I needed one to take DD away. She has a different surname and nationality to me! And they checked.

Yes, you do need a letter stating clearly that you have permission. I took the kids I was nanny for abroad and needed a letter.
