HIghchair suitable for travelling

HI

Please can you advise.

I am coming home to the UK for xmas, with DS who will be 6 months. I need to know of a high chair that will be easy to fit in the car and travel, but will also offer him the support needed. (i.e atleast 3point harness) Here he has a prima pappa chair and that is too big to take on the flight.

MIL has bought him a saftey first booster!!!! chair which I don't really deem suitable after looking at it on line. It states recommended more for toddler than infant.

I want something with atleast a bit of padding so that it is comfortable for him to sit in.

Are babychairs attached to adult chairs safe for a baby of six month?
HTMS
TIA.

Karen, the Safety First seat should be fine from 6 months. It was the only high chair I ever used with both my dds. What you could do is get a padded bit to go inside - I know that Mothercare do them, for example. It is the shape of the seat and has holes to fix the straps through. HTH

What about one of those fabric slings that go over the back of the chair.

Karen,
I'm not quite sure which one is the safety first seat, but there is a first years reclining booster seat that looks ok \link{http://www.mothercare.com/invt/lh1390&bklist=icat,5,shop,shofeeding,feehighchairs,higboosterseats\here} .
Although, to be honest, every time we travelled with babies, I fed them in their pushchairs and they were fine....

I would agree with chuffinggoodtime. Mine was great (until some sod stole it!)
However IKEA do a v basic highchair (£14),and the legs come apart from the seat so it's quite easy to transport. I am bringing one back from the UK to take back to Turkey after Christmas for my 5 month old (everything here seems as big and upholstered as a Parker Knoll armchair!!

Als agree with feeding in the pushchair option and I've also got a Bumbo which is great. That will follow us home at christmas too!

Thanks for you help I will have a look into everything. We have told MIL to keep hold of the seat and I will have a look at it, and maybe buy the padding to make it a bit more comfortable.

Safety first seats are great and very portable. I used from about 7 months.

Also when I'm at peoples houses and they don't have one we concuct a confusing array of teatowels to tie baby to a chair - looks funny but keeps them safe and works a treat!

If I had an excuse to buy a portable highchair I would go for this:

\link{http://www.cheekyrascals.co.uk/feedme/\the handysitt}

They have them in Starbucks and are fantastic.

We had a safety ist when ds was around 6 months. Main problem is they don't boost enough to get a young baby to table height. Also I personally hated cleaning it. And they aren't much use unless your child can sit up fairly well on their own.

The only problem with the handsitt might be portability as it folds flat, but not down, IYSWIM. Its not that huge though. It would be fine to transport by car.

I'm wondering now if I had a different safety 1st to everyone else? Ours was (meant to be) self inflating, but always ended up half inflated.
