What to use for black out blinds

We have DTwins, age 3, and find it impossible to keep their room dark.

They are impossible. They make mischief with absolutely everything in their room, to the extent that internal wardrobe doors are screwed shut, and all furniture bar their beds and a screwed to the wall shelving unit, have had to be removed.

They need a very dark room to sleep well. They have two double windows, pretty standard sized, over which are black out curtains, which they swing on and pull down regularly. Even when up properly, the room is still very bright with the sun hitting their room directly and lighting up the edges of the curtains.

The opaque film you can apply to the window worked a treat, until they worked out if one gave the other a leg up, they could pick at a corner until there was enough to grab and rip it off. They did this every night until we gave up applying.

Blinds, they would just do the same, help each other reach it then pull on the bottom until it broke.

What can we do that will be completely fiddle proof please?

@InceyWinceySpidy I'm not sure of this exact brand but we had something similar when we moved into our last house. It kind of clicked into the window and it was quite tricky to get out when we updated the place (actually thought it was part of the window!) Maybe worth searching similar insert blinds...

I commented earlier saying the blinds were not the issue here.

I have twins.

It pisses me off no end when people play the “twins are different” card to justify really bad behaviour. It won’t be long before you’re making that trip to a&e.

Mmmm. You also appear to have commented on another twin mum's thread "Being a twin is not a bloody protected characteristic" when she noted something frequently found within twins.

Do you do this to all twin mums? Are we all wrong and have imagined the specialised circumstances and behaviours we all find amongst our twins...

(All of us apart from you, obvs)

I cant find the link or it at the moment but we used a fabric blackout that affixes with Velcro. Basically you apply Velcro take around the frame and then “stick” the felt jacked fabric on top of it. It’s v v good. We got it from Amazon.

Did you really AS my username? 😂

I do sometimes comment when I think mums of twins are giving us a bad name by expecting special privileges - either by excusing poor behaviour or demanding measures that other children don’t get, simply because they are twins.

So despite the comments on this post, and others, from twins themselves, spouses of twins, twin mums, you like to take it upon yourself to declare all of us, who recognise these things, as wrong and "giving twins a bad name" and have a bit of a superiority complex that your twins act differently. Not better, that's your own opinion. Just differently.

Good to know Smile

We have Flat Cats Velcro to frame mesh to stop the cats escaping. They held firm to our 6kg psycho cat climbing up them.

Lovely owner wonder if he would make you some, they do made to measure.
