Is there any way to prevent this? I’m starting to think the poor cats will never be able to drink again Confused

The opposite I would think. I’m saying he wouldn’t understand so the opposite of your apparently more sophisticated toddlers turned teens, surely?

If he can work out how to undo a baby gate, he can understand a time out or being made to clear it up. You don't need to use a mop.

Loads of people who have raised toddlers have given you suggestions and you've rejected every single one.

He is getting a reward/attention from tipping over the bowl it is fun for him you need to take out the fun, even if it means he gets a bit upset and annoyed with you.

Nearly a year and you've not came up with a solution? I despair.

Move it higher, and the food. It doesn't need to be very high, one of those tables you can get to work in bed would do.

Also put a towel / tea towel underneath so if it does spill the water stays where it has been spilled.

Can you pop the water bowl up high where the cats can get to, and 2 year old cannot?

We had a similar issue and bought a weighted dog water bowl. It has a base filled with sand or water and the water bowl clicks on top and has to be removed using both hands. It solved the problem and the cat also uses it happily. Ours cam from Pet Weighter on Amazon but I’m sure there are others.

Ridiculous

Why ridiculous?
My children are young adults now, so I’m long out of the toddler game, but I can still remember toddler antics and how I dealt with the.

Have toddlers become a whole new species over the last few years? Do they not respond to strategies that were used 20 years ago?

You need a crate.. Lots of treats.
Your toddler will soon get used to it!!

For the cats or the toddler? 😂
