Co sleeping... is a crib better?

My LO is 5 months. He slept in his moses basket perfectly. When he outgrew that I got a crib for him. Some days he sleeps in it fine but mostly he is fussing and wanting to be held or slept next to. I normally would give a bottle feed , give him let him put himself to sleep. I've tried rocking him but when down even with dummy he starts crying and I end up co sleeping. Is this the sleep regression? My main question is If it is going to lead to this every time is it better to get a crib that opens to one side so I can put my hand on him. If so any cheap suggestions? Something to use for a couple of months. Does anybody already do this or any tips at all? In terms of teething he is teething but he gets nurofen and anbesol liquid at night so dont think its that. ( Please don't suggest getting a cot bed and taking one side down as I am in apartment and will be moving to a house soon so will get a cot once I've moved to save hassle) I'm new here so will do my best with replying thanking youuuu :)

But can't you just take the side of the crib you already have? Have it on the higher level and fix it to the side of your bed?

That's how I did a super cheap version of co-sleeping, with the cheapest IKEA crib, so that he was right next to me but also on his own mattress and space

Could be the sleep regression, if you can't 'bedside' the crib you've got maybe see if you can get a next-to-me cheaply on Facebook marketplace? You'll need a new mattress though

No it's not that type it's a foldable crib with wooden legs. The one in the picture. Something temporary until I get the cot. I was going to get a bedside crib but thought I'll try one thats not bedside first.
