Highchair for 3 month old

MrsS93 · 15/05/2023 15:03

Hi,

Does anyone have recommendations for a high chair suitable for a 3 month old? My son screams every time I try and eat because he can't see me so looking for a high chair so he could sit next to me but which will also be good when we do start weaning.
Height adjustable is a plus too due to having a dining table and a kitchen table at different heights. Budget is max £150.

Honestly just get the Ikea one and the blow up insert. All the rest are a nightmare to clean.

Is that suitable at 3 months when he can't support himself?

I've got the Cosatto noodle 0+ and for the same reason as you say.
It is a pain to clean but is pretty nice looking

Should be fine in the IKEA one. My twins started sitting in theirs at 4.5 months just so they were occupied at meal times and they were a wee bit premature so quite small. I’d have thought 3 months was fine. With the insert. I’d recommend buying a footrest for it too.

SuddenlySingle11 · 15/05/2023 15:22

I got the Cosatto noodle too and would recommend. Iy has a newborn insert and also reclines.

such a short time id probably just eat with child on lap or eat on the sofa for the sake of a few months and then use the ikea chair.

£150 is crazy to spend on a chair - you could spend it on way better things.

I had a Joie mimzy snacker. Not height adjustable but the tray was quite big. It reclined and folded easily. I used it in the kitchen when I was cooking too and once a toddler small puzzles and colouring were done while I cooked.

I would buy a secondhand Tripp Trapp chair and newborn insert. You'll easy pick those up for less than that money and they are brilliant.

I just used to put the bouncy chair in the middle of the table when that young.

Jijithecat · 15/05/2023 16:22

We had one of these:

Similar to a Bumbo, but it has straps so that you can secure it to a chair. It's great for visiting others who don't have a high chair too and the material is squishy but firm for support.

I think there's a Maxicosi one that you can use from newborn and adjusts as they get older

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 15/05/2023 16:36

I got the cosatto noodle 0+ when my baby was about 6 weeks old as it reclines and has the newborn insert. Can also adjust the height too, best £100 I’ve spent. He is 10 months old now.

Happycow · 15/05/2023 16:49

I had the joie mimzy as it reclined, and id buy the same again to be honest

Shoemadlady · 15/05/2023 22:56

The ikea one is the best and the easiest to clean too. Takes 2 mins to wipe down and believe me, they'll get food into every tiny nook and cranny!

Shoemadlady · 15/05/2023 22:57

Don't think a 3 month old has enough head control for a high chair. Why not put baby in a bouncy chair and sit on the floor next to them to eat? Xx

MuffinToSeeHere · 15/05/2023 22:59

Some things are worth spending money on a highchair is not one of those things. The IKEA chair reigns supreme for a reason, it's cheap, does the job and most importantly it's easy to clean.

Until he can hold his head up just have him sat on your knee or in a baby swing so he can see you then buy the highchair for when he's able to sit properly in it.

Same.

I guess it depends how sturdy your table is though? We have a very big heavy dining table so I wasn't worried about it budging.

Regardless of how stable your table is it still isn't a good idea to put a bouncy chair on the table.

oliveandwell · 19/05/2023 13:13

The Tripp trapp with the newborn attachment will still fit at 3 months. It's perfect.

You can probably get both on eBay for £150

sandberry · 19/05/2023 13:16

Tripp Trapp is perfect and lasts until 12 so possibly worth it new but easy to pick up secondhand. My 6 and 4 year olds still use theirs, we’ve gone right from newborn to high chair to normal chair.
