10 month BF baby feed & sleep routine help

My just turned 10 month old still breastfeeds loads and wakes 2-3 (more often 3) a night and only settles with a feed. Does this routine look normal for a BF baby? Please can people take a look at my routine to suggest improvements?Timings vary depending on wake up time but rough idea. Thanks

7am - wake and BF
7.30am - breakfast
9.15am - BF
9.45am - nap for 1-1.25 hours
10.45am - wake
11am - BF
12-12.30pm - lunch
1.45pm - BF
2.15pm - nap for 1-1.25 hours
4pm - BF
5pm - dinner
6.30pm - bath
7pm - BF
7.15pm - asleep
BF 2-3 times at night every 2-3 hours

Looks like a lot of breastfeeds, but definitely within normal range. Are you wanting to try and reduce the feeds? How are they doing with solids?

Your routine looks grand, just very intense for you!

@DragonbornMum I’d love to reduce breastfeeds but not sure how!

He’s not brill with solids but has good days and bad days. Quite a picky eater. But some days eats quite well.

So the question is does he feed because he's hungry, or does he not eat solids because he's full!!!

I guess the hard part is finding nice fatty food that fills him up. Avocado is aparently very fatty. I liked giving mine banana and (ground) almond sandwiches. Full fat yogurt with dessicated coconut mixed in. Peanut butter. Anything with lamb. You can use cows milk in cooking and maybe make rice pudding

If he can eat enough to not need so much milk, you should be able to drop a few feeds throughout the day. In a couple of months you can replace some feeds with cows milk (if you want to continue BF). If it's not too long until a solid meal, try distracting him rather than giving a milk feed so that he's hungry enough to eat a proper meal.

Good luck!

I think your routine looks like hard work for you, but if it works, then it's fine! For comparison, my DD is 10.5 months and she's a good eater. Her routine looks like this (some things shift if she's ill or we're on the go):

Wake: 06:15
Breastfeed: 06:20
Breakfast: 06:30-07:00
Snack: 11:00 (solids then 4oz formula)
Lunch: 12:30/13:00 (solids then bf)
Snack: 16:00 (solids then bf)
Dinner: 17:30/18:00 (solids followed by 4oz formula)
Bath, book, bed by 19:00

We're transitioning from two naps to one atm at DD's insistence, so I'm being led by her a bit on that. If it's a two nap day, she'll do 10-11am then 2-3pm, and if it's a one nap day she'll do 11-1 approx. I try not to nap her more than 2hrs, and never after 4pm. She'll take some milk after a nap, but not before. DD sleeps through, 7-6ish, no night feeds.

I'm also looking to wean her from the boob at 12 months due to ttc no.2, so hence the formula and cutting back feeds. I can't handle the idea of bf while pregnant or tandem bf, so want to wean early enough for DD to get used to it before baby shows up.
